Fayette County Drug and Alcohol Commission is seeking a Prevention Specialist to be part of a collaborative team whose goals are to reduce use and misuse of alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs and prevent problem gambling in Fayette County communities.
The Prevention Specialist will be primarily responsible for substance abuse and/or problem gambling prevention related endeavors. This position is also responsible for facilitating prevention curricula in local schools, elementary and secondary, as well as in the community. The Prevention Specialist adheres to best practices in prevention and encourages community partners and schools to adhere to those practices. Duties include maintaining knowledge of prevention as it relates to written and digital resources and engaging with youth and adults with those resources in a variety of settings. Prevention Specialists are required to participate in ongoing training that is designed to develop skills and knowledge in the prevention of alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs.
Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in public health, education, the social or behavioral sciences or related fields. Exceptional communication skills, the ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships, the ability to manage complex schedules and meet deadlines. Proficiency in Microsoft Office. Ability to successfully prepare and deliver high quality presentations to various audiences. Strong organizational skills and capacity to manage multiple projects. Professional demeanor. Self-directed, while being able to function as part of a team. Must be flexible and able to adapt to changing circumstances while maintaining focus on clear solutions. Familiarity with the local community. Detail oriented. Must possess a passion for FCDAC’s mission. Employee must have a willingness to travel (including periodic evening and weekend events) and access to reliable transportation.
Candidates must complete a pre-employment, post hire drug screen.

Pay: $31,000.00 - $35,000.00 per year
