JOB SUMMARY
Install and troubleshoot computer hardware and software; train users in functions and operations of computers; provide continuing on-site and telephone support for users.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Trace network and other cables and make repairs as needed.
- Diagnose hardware problems and replace components as needed.
- Evaluate needs of user departments and recommend hardware and software solutions.
- Conduct training for use of district technology hardware and software with individuals and small groups.
- Diagnose hardware problems and replace components as needed.
- Document troubleshooting steps and solutions in Help Desk ticket system.
- Test, install, and configure new software programs and updates
- Conduct and document tier II problem-solving research.
- Manage district technology hardware and accounts using Active Directory, Group Policy, and Mobile Device Management solutions.
- Install Windows PCs, Chromebooks, and iPads including applicable peripherals, software, and apps.
- Provide on-site and telephone support for users of hardware and software.
- Demonstrates the ability to communicate in more than one language or the willingness to learn to communicate in more than one language at the novice level of proficiency.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Maintains regular attendance.
KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES
KNOWLEDGE OF:
- Operation of Windows PCs, Chromebooks, and iPads and related peripherals.
- Operation of numerous software applications used by students, teachers and staff.
- Installation of computer hardware, peripherals and software.
- Proper methods of storing equipment, materials and supplies.
- Manual instructions, sufficient to enable quick and accurate diagnosis of difficulties. Technical aspects of field of specialty.
- Customer Service practices.
- Public speaking techniques.
ABILITY TO:
- Install computer hardware and software.
- Plan, develop and coordinate training programs in the use of PCs, Chromebooks, iPads, wireless access points, copiers, printers and other peripheral equipment.
- Provide assistance and technical knowledge of various software applications.
- Develop and present training sessions on the operation of computer hardware and software applications.
- Maintain current knowledge of technological advances in the field.
- Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others.
- Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Work independently on tasks as well as part of a team.
- Demonstrate the ability to communicate in more than one language or the willingness to learn to communicate in more than one language at the novice level of proficiency
QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience:
- Four years microcomputer and software operations and installation experience.
- High school diploma or G.E.D. Certificate supplemented by course work in microcomputers and software applications
