TITLE: Detention Officer
MINIMUM SALARY: $51,079.45 ($22.85 Hourly)

Full-time position with 12- Hour rotating shifts
Major Duties:
- Ensure the safety and security of jail operations personnel, citizens, and inmates
- Process and supervise inmates, conduct regular headcounts
- Respond to medical and security emergencies
- Patrol the jail facility and grounds
- Assist in the training of new personnel
- Search inmates and seize contraband
- Complete required forms and reports
- Maintain assigned uniforms and equipment
- Present evidence and testimony in court
- Participate in the department training program
- Escort inmates from housing to visitation areas
- Transport inmates to and from court appearances, medical appointments, and other correctional facilities
- Monitor and observe inmates using television monitors and visual observation
- Serve as Central Control Officer as assigned, open and close doors and gates, maintain essential inventory, monitor video cameras
- Serve as Kitchen Officer as assigned, oversee inmate workers
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Knowledge Required for the Position:
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local laws
- Knowledge of the criminal justice system
- Knowledge of departmental rules and regulations
- Knowledge of the procedures used in emergency communications
- Ability to prepare clear and comprehensive reports
- Ability to obtain information through interviews, interrogations, and observation
- Ability to operate assigned equipment
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Possession of or ability to obtain a valid Georgia driver's license
- Ability to meet current requirements set forth by the Georgia Police Standards and Training Council
- No Experience Required
