Job Description
Serves as a HVAC and maintenance worker to Fayette County Commissioners.
This position is responsible for maintaining a safe and clean environment by performing a variety of skilled maintenance and HVAC repair and troubleshooting work in the upkeep of county buildings.
- Cleaning, adjusting and repairing HVAC commercial systems.
- Troubleshooting defective HVAC systems and equipment to make diagnoses.
- Preforming preventative maintenance by cleaning, monitoring and calibrating all HVAC units in county buildings.
- Performs basic carpentry tasks such as repairing doors, installing bulletin boards and assembling furniture.
- Able to perform emergency repairs promptly and efficiently.
- Ability to keep daily/weekly/monthly logs and records for HVAC maintenance logs.
- Assist with remodeling offices, including scraping, filling holes and painting walls.
- Performs basic exterior maintenance on county building.
- Performs basic building interior scheduled maintenance including but not limited to; cleaning return air vents, replacing light bulbs, cleaning overhead light covers.
- Assist facilities manager as needed.
- Assists with troubleshooting solutions.
- Promotes a positive and respectful team working environment.
- Ensures compliance with county policies and other policies and procedures.
- Ensures grounds are safe for employees and visitors (snow removal, tree trimming, etc.)
- Other duties as assigned
- Physical Requirements:
Lift, push and pull 50 pounds, climb and work on ladders at ceiling level with arms raised over head, stand/walk for long periods of time, climb steps, work in confined spaces, bend at waist and knees. Must be able to read computer screen and documents,
Job Location:
Travels and works at all county buildings and properties.
Equipment Used:
County vehicle, various hand and power tools, ladders and technical devices, snow removal and mowing equipment, office equipment.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- Associate’s degree, HVAC trade school certification or five (5) year apprenticeship program.
- 3-5 years of commercial HVAC service experience.
- EPA Approved Universal Technician Certification
- Must have a valid driver’s license and auto liability insurance
- Working knowledge of workplace safety and best practices for maintaining and improving facilities and grounds.
- Good craftsmanship of personal work.
- Strong communication skills (verbal and written), sound judgment, excellent customer service skills.
