GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION

Responsibilities include maintaining and servicing facility access control systems and low-voltage systems, including, but not limited to, life safety equipment and alarms, audio and visual equipment, and other low-voltage equipment as assigned.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1.Responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing facility access control systems.

2.Assist with maintenance of life safety systems, including security alarms, fire alarms, and fire sprinkler systems.

3.Responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing video surveillance cameras, intercom, and related audio and visual technology equipment.

4.Responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing low voltage data cabling, fiber optic lines, telephone wiring, and low voltage wiring systems.

5.Assist locksmith with door and door hardware-related systems with access controls.

6.Examine low voltage systems to locate problems.

7.Provide technical assistance to staff.

8.Follow documentation procedures and protocols.

9.Responsible for troubleshooting and completing maintenance work orders as assigned.

10. Hardware and software utilities enhancement.

11.Weekend and holiday on-call as required.

12.Assist the technology department with low voltage equipment as required or assigned.

13 Assist maintenance or district department personnel as required.

14.Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty mentioned satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Knowledge of a specialized field (however acquired), such as basic accounting, computer, etc. Equivalent of four years in high school, plus night, trade extension, or correspondence school specialized training, equal to two years of college, plus 2 years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS

Ability to effectively communicate information and respond to questions in person-to-person and small group situations with customers, clients, general public and other employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

CRITICAL THINKING SKILLS

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of known variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram formats.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

The preferred candidate will have experience and knowledge in installing, troubleshooting, and repairing facility access controls and low-voltage systems. Working knowledge of Fire-Lite fire alarm systems, Avigilon access controls, and Avigilon video surveillance systems would be very helpful.

Job duties may necessitate flexible hours, including days, evenings, nights, occasional weekends, and holidays.
