GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION
To support increased student achievement in mathematics in grades K-12. Responsible for the oversight of mathematics instruction K-12 and to facilitate the selection and implementation of mathematics curricular materials.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supervises and coaches in mathematics core instruction and mathematics RTI
- Provides leadership related to mathematics data analysis and Response to Intervention (RTI) and MTSS
- Works with Student Support Specialists to develop programming to combat learning loss
- Works collaboratively with teachers and administrators on the implementation of Arkansas Mathematics Standards
- Supports teachers and administrators with the implementation of the Board approved mathematics curriculum
- Serves as a liaison for Fayetteville Public Schools with DESE, Co-Op, regional and national organizations
- Coordinates professional learning related to K-12 mathematics
- Monitors and facilitates the continued implementation and professional development of Ready Math, iReady, and other district approved mathematics programs
- Provides reports and recommendations related to K-12 mathematics to the Associate Superintendent for Teaching and Learning and the Board
- Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty mentioned satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Graduate degree (M.A.T., M.A., etc), plus 10 years related experience and/or training, and 12 to 18 months related management experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
COMMUNICATION SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and understand general business/company related articles and professional journals; Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
CRITICAL THINKING SKILLS
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
REQUIRED CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Valid Arkansas Teacher Licensure in Mathematics
Valid Arkansas Administrator License
Strong collaboration/interpersonal skills
Strong commitment to raising student achievement in mathematics
Evidence of successful leadership in mathematics at a grade level, building level, or district level
Evidence of strong written communication and presentation skills
Experience in conducting staff development in mathematics
Evidence of strong planning and organizational skills
Experience in mentoring/coaching other teachers
Knowledge of Arkansas Standards for mathematics
PREFERRED CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Masters Degree in Mathematics or Curriculum/Instruction
