Overview:
Fayetteville Public Schools seeks an innovative, collaborative leader to serve as the Director of Themed Programming and Summer Learning. The role will focus on directing the collaboration and implementation of additional dynamic learning environments, to integrate FPS curriculum and instruction combined with a variety of innovative themed learning options at all school levels. The Director will play a critical role in designing, implementing, and evaluating themed programming across the district, with the goal of providing exceptional, personalized educational pathways for all students, as well as planning and executing high-quality summer learning opportunities. The Director will ensure alignment with district goals, compliance with state and federal regulations, and foster collaboration among stakeholders to enhance educational outcomes and equity.
Responsibilities:
- Program Development and Coordination
- Work with school and district leaders to develop, refine, and expand themed programming options to meet the diverse needs and interests of students.
- Design and monitor curriculum frameworks that align with themed programming goals and support student engagement, critical thinking, and creativity.
- Work collaboratively with building principals, curriculum directors, and central office staff to ensure high-quality instruction and a rigorous curriculum in order to align supports for students.
- Collaborate with school leaders and staff to identify programmatic needs and establish strategic goals for themed programs.
- Monitor program effectiveness through data analysis and stakeholder feedback, making adjustments as needed to achieve desired outcomes.
- Develops and manages budgets, allocations, expenditures, and related financial activities ensuring that allocations are accurate, revenues recorded, and expenses are within budget limits and adherence to fiscal practices.
- Promote public awareness of themed programming through marketing, community engagement, and outreach initiatives.
- Leadership in Teacher Development
- Serve as the primary leader in developing and retaining teachers within the themed programs, creating a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth.
- Guide teachers in building and sustaining a high-functioning PLC, building a collaboration culture, having a focus on learning, sharing best practices, and being results oriented.
- Develop and implement training programs focused on evidence-based instructional practices and effective differentiation techniques.
- Observe, coach, and provide feedback to teachers to support their growth and professional development within themed programming.
- Project-Based Learning (PBL) Training and Support
- Develop and implement a comprehensive PBL training program for teachers involved in themed programming, ensuring alignment with district goals and standards.
- Offer coaching and mentoring for teachers in PBL strategies, helping them to integrate real-world, problem-based learning experiences into their instruction.
- Collaborate with instructional leaders to ensure PBL practices are consistently integrated across grade levels and content areas.
- Summer Learning Programs
- Directs all aspects of the planning, coordinating, and overseeing of the FPS district-wide summer learning opportunities providing services within established timeframes, ensuring alignment with academic priorities and student needs, and ensuring achievement of program outcomes.
- Develop curricula and activities for summer programs that address learning loss, enrichment opportunities, and targeted intervention.
- Manage budgets, staffing, and logistical operations for summer programming.
- Collaborates with the Communications Department on the development of communication strategies and marketing materials conveying information to others and promoting partnerships.
- Evaluate program effectiveness, including academic impact and student/parent satisfaction, and implement improvements.
- Professional Learning Community (PLC) Leadership
- Ensure effective PLCs within the themed programs, guiding teachers through data analysis, goal-setting, and collaborative planning.
- Foster a culture of reflective practice within PLCs, encouraging teachers to share insights, strategies, and student-centered practices.
- Stakeholder Engagement
- Serve as a liaison between district leadership, school staff, and community members, fostering a supportive network for themed programming.
- Lead stakeholder meetings to communicate program goals, share successes, and gather feedback for continuous improvement.
- Work collaboratively with other district leaders to align themed programming initiatives with overall district goals.
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Education, Educational Leadership, or a related field.
- Possess or able to obtain and active Arkansas Educator License
- Minimum of 5 years of teaching experience, with a proven record of success in an instructional or leadership role.
- Strong leadership and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple programs and initiatives simultaneously.
- Knowledge of curriculum development, specialized program implementation, and best practices in summer learning.
- Experience in leading PLCs and implementing project-based learning initiatives.
- Strong knowledge of best practices in teacher development, PBL, and curriculum design.
- Proven experience leading effective teams, individuals, managing organizational change and initiating key innovations.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills to engage diverse stakeholders effectively.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with teachers, administrators, and the community.
- Proficiency in data analysis for program evaluation and decision-making.
- Experience with budget development and management.
Preferred:
- Previous experience in developing and managing themed programs or specialized pathways.
- Training or certification in project-based learning methodologies.
- School administrator experience preferred.
