Summary of Responsibilities:
Fayetteville Public Works Commission (PWC) is seeking a dedicated IT Support Specialist to provide exceptional technical support for personal computers and users within our organization and external vendors. Key responsibilities include:
- Installing, setting up, modifying, and repairing computer hardware/software systems.
- Managing user accounts and troubleshooting office automation-related hardware/software issues.
- Recording daily data communications transactions and resolving problems.
- Loading specified software packages and verifying system operations.
- Assisting in the implementation and maintenance of in-house computer systems.
- Troubleshooting internet/intranet-related problems.
- Driving and operating vehicles for work assignments.
- Providing after-hours technical support on a rotating basis.
- Adhering to policies and procedures, creating user profiles, and administering file and folder security.
- Providing initial training to familiarize customers with system operations.
Full Performance Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Good knowledge of safety rules, regulations, and procedures.
- Proficiency in personal computers and related hardware/software.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to work independently.
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory.
- Working knowledge of Windows client operating systems and iOS for iPhones and iPads.
- Effective customer service, analytical, research, and problem-solving skills.
- Advanced troubleshooting skills using various system tools and command-line commands.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to diagnose system hardware/software issues and provide resolutions.
- Ability to set up, configure, and troubleshoot network printers.
- Ability to lift and move equipment as needed (up to 50 lbs).
- Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with employees, officials, PWC customers, and vendors.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Option A: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, plus 1 year of relevant experience.
- Option B: Associate degree/certification in Computer Science, plus 5 years of relevant experience.
- Option C: High school diploma or equivalent, plus 9 years of relevant experience.
Equipment Operated:
- Computers, calculators, communication devices, and other equipment as required.
Special Requirements:
- Must possess and maintain a valid Driver’s License.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position.
Safety Hazards:
- Minimal.
Protective Equipment:
- As required by the Public Works Commission’s Safety Manual.
