Summary of Responsibilities
As a T/D SCADA Systems Technician, you will be responsible for executing assigned activities related to the SCADA system, including integrations with OMS and ADMS, and troubleshooting microprocessor/relays at critical locations within the transmission and distribution system. You will assist in implementing cyber security policies for Electric SCADA, monitor SCADA, OMS, and ADMS functions, develop displays, and perform SCADA linking activities for OMS and ADMS applications. Additionally, you will configure and monitor network switches and SONET activities, integrate Smart Grid equipment into the SCADA system, and operate under the general supervision of the TD Control Center/Utility Service Manager.
Required Skills/Abilities
- Good knowledge of safety rules, regulations, and procedures.
- Thorough knowledge of electrical system operations for transmission, distribution, and substation systems.
- Knowledge of SCADA computer equipment and software.
- Good knowledge of OMS/ADMS applications.
- Skill in performing technical computations and making comprehensive recommendations.
- Ability to perform network packet captures and analysis.
- Ability to use good judgment in making adaptations and modifications.
- Ability to research, plan, coordinate, schedule, project, and prioritize work.
- Ability to prepare and maintain reports and records.
- Ability to respond effectively in emergency situations.
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
- Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with the public and all levels of employees.
Minimum Qualifications
- Graduation from an accredited two-year community/technical college with a degree in Engineering Technology, Electronic Technology, Computer Science, or a related field OR
- Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and a minimum of two years of progressively responsible experience as defined above OR
- An equivalent combination of education, training, or experience as defined above.
Equipment Operated
- Computer, calculator, communication equipment, and other equipment as required.
Special Requirements
- Must possess and maintain a valid North Carolina Driver’s License.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position.
