Position Summary
The role of the Sanitation lead is to ensure sanitation procedures are compliant with food safety standards and best practices. Ensures all Safety and Food Safety procedures are observed and followed by sanitation associates. Ensure production areas are cleaned and sanitized correctly. Ensure associates are scheduled according to the needs of the company.
Essential Functions
- Coordinates the activities of the sanitation team to ensure compliance standards are maintained.
- Performs comprehensive evaluation of sanitation process and practices.
- Evaluates and modifies SSOP's as required.
- Evaluates and modifies Master Sanitation Schedule as required.
- Reviews Sanitation/QA assessments and audits (pre-op inspection and swabs) of sanitation operations.
- Manages Sanitation supplies and chemical inventories.
- Leads team training and process improvement.
- Provides Maintenance Manager with equipment damage report (if any).
- Assists/coordinates in the training of proper/safe handling and usage of sanitation chemicals.
- Attend pre-operational meeting with summary information on departmental issues or concerns.
- Assists in Food Safety/HACCP/GMP and customer audits.
- Perform daily preventive maintenance on warehouse equipment.
- Identify continuous improvement opportunities.
· Perform additional duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of USDA food manufacturing experience in sanitation.
- Knowledge of sanitation methods and best practices.
- GFSI (BRC, SQF) Certification experience.
- Must have extensive USDA manufacturing experience with strong food processing skills.
- Knowledge of the chemicals used in the sanitation process.
- Thorough knowledge of FDA (FSMA) and USDA regulations.
- Deep understanding of HACCP, SSOPs, allergens, pest control, and sanitary design of equipment.
- Ability to apply regulatory changes to facilities operations.
- Bilingual Spanish/English a plus.
- Skilled in oral and written communication.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to solve problems.
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Ability to maintain positive and effective working relationships with a diversified group of people.
Education and Experience:
· High school diploma; and two (2) or more years’ sanitation experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.50 - $25.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
