What You’ll Do: As the Commercial Staff Underwriting Manager you will develop, manage, and maintain commercial underwriting best practices, guidelines, requirements, and procedures to achieve corporate and business unit goals in all states for all commercial lines of business. You will also collaborate with Education and Compliance, as well as underwriters and business units, to train and ensure alignment with underwriting eligibility for commercial lines of business. Other responsibilities include:
· Work with key areas of the company to improve the underwriting experience for the client/member, agent and company.
· Build and maintain open lines of communication by providing timely status reports, developing a communication plan, and communicating program performance, including budget and schedule, to the sponsor and stakeholder.
· Proactively manage any vendor relationship through completion of project or program. Participate in negotiations, procurement, and contract administration activities.
What It Takes to Join Our Team:
- College degree or equivalent plus 10 years of relevant experience.
- Must have or attain knowledge of company products, services, and business strategies/objectives.
- Must possess excellent leadership, oral and written communication, planning, organization, decision making, and negotiation skills.
- Proven ability to negotiate for competing resources and to generate consensus among multiple interrelated priority projects.
- Minimal travel may be required, including overnight stays.
