PC Accounting Intern –Summer 2025 – Fall semester 2025
Farm Bureau Financial Services has an accounting internship opportunity available for individuals to gain accounting experience in the property and casualty insurance industry.
What You'll Do:
As a PC Accounting Intern, you will be working with various teams to balance, reconcile and enter transactions related to our commission system, as well as be responsible for the reconciliation of various bank and suspense accounts. You will learn and participate in our commission month end close process with the opportunity to experience other PC Accounting month end close processes. You will be exposed to commission system, accounting system and how our financial reporting process works.
Our internship program holds an 80/10/10 approach, meaning that 80% of your work time will involve performing tasks or working on projects within your hired work area. Another 10% of the time, you will be exposed to learning in other areas within your assigned division to get more corporate experience. Then, the final 10% will be spent in shared experiences across the organization, where you will get to really learn about our culture and work environment.
What it Takes to Join our Team:
- Be a junior/senior working towards a bachelor’s degree in the field of Accounting, or Finance. (December 2025 graduation date is preferred but not required)
- Be able to work full-time (8am-4:30pm M-F) summer and 15-20 hours/week during the fall school year.
- Be able to work in-person at our home office in West Des Moines, IA.
- Have a minimum GPA of 3.0.
- Have strong communication skills, sense of initiative and teamwork.
- Have a strong attention to detail and good organizational skills.
- Must possess good problem-solving skills.
- Experienced in Microsoft Excel.
