FC Copa Academy, a nationally recognized leader in player development, is seeking ahighly motivated, visionary, and experienced Directors of Coaching to lead the next chapter of our Academy’s growth. We are hiring two seprate Technical Director for both our boys and girls program. About FC Copa Academy
Founded in 2004 and headquartered in Central New Jersey, FC Copa Academy is a year-round, professionally operated youth soccer organization that has built a reputation for excellence both on and off the field. Our Academy operates over 120 teams with 1,500 players and continues to grow each season. We offer a comprehensive player pathway through our nationally competitive youth programs, collegiate development teams (U20/U23), USL Academy teams and our New Jersey Copa FC semi-professional teams in the USL League Two (men) and USL W (women).
Our Academy is deeply committed to educating the complete player, emphasizing technical proficiency, tactical understanding, physical conditioning, and personal character. We are proud to have one of the highest college placement rates in the nation, having placed over 440 players into 181 collegiate programs.
About the Role
As Technical Director, you will serve as the architect of our club’s technical vision. You will lead the design, execution, and continuous evolution of our player and coach development programs. This is a high-impact leadership role for an individual who thrives in a collaborative, high-performance, and mission-driven environment. You will be instrumental in mentoring coaches, guiding our developmental curriculum, and ensuring alignment with FC Copa Academy’s values, goals, and growth strategy.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership & Program Development
- Develop and implement a club-wide Player Development Plan that aligns with FC Copa Academy’s strategic vision.
- Oversee all technical programs across locations, ensuring excellence in player and coach development.
- Maintain systems for ongoing performance reporting and technical resource management.
- Evaluate and evolve competitive and developmental models for all age groups.
Coach Recruitment, Training & Evaluation
- Recruit, assign, and retain top-level coaches across all programs.
- Lead a comprehensive coach development program including mentoring, seminars, performance evaluations, and professional education.
- Implement formal coach evaluation processes including written reviews, interviews, and feedback loops.
- Foster a culture of continuous learning, accountability, and growth.
Player Development Oversight
- Design and manage player development models for ages U8–U19 and post-high school players.
- Oversee tryouts and player evaluations, ensuring transparency and fairness.
- Provide structure for pre-season, in-season, and camp programming.
- Implement individualized player feedback systems and development plans.
Operational Collaboration
- Partner with administrative staff to maintain up-to-date data on players, coaches, and programs.
- Coordinate with club leadership on budgets, program planning, staffing needs, and strategic goals.
- Communicate effectively with all stakeholders, players, coaches, and parents, about technical philosophy and player development progress.
Qualifications & Desired Experience
- USSF or UEFA A License strongly preferred.
- Technical Director Diploma or similar advanced certification is an asset.
- Proven leadership in youth development programs, ideally within high-performance or academy environments.
- Experience managing and mentoring elite-level coaching staff.
- Demonstrated success in designing and executing technical frameworks aligned with a club’s strategic vision.
- Exceptional communication and leadership skills; ability to inspire, delegate, and educate.
- Technological fluency in platforms such as GotSport, PlayMetrics, Google Suite, etc.
- Strong organizational and analytical skills, with a passion for continuous improvement.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and successfully pass all required background checks.
