Engineering Group Lead Emotor Hairpin Stator/Rotor assembly
The UPE Engineering Group Lead is responsible for leading Manufacturing Engineering functions for Kokomo Indiana area powertrain /propulsion programs . Their primary role is to guide their Engineering team to develop and launch processes that meet all objectives for safety, quality, delivery, and cost Emotor manufacturing including stator and rotor assembly .
Main responsibilities include:
Perform assessments for process changes and related investment requirements for cost studies
Oversee engineering scope definition, Requests for Quotes (RFQ’s), sourcing, technical evaluations, design, manufacturing, and installation of manufacturing equipment of electric hairpin stators and rotor assembly equipment.
Manage all New Model (NM) program’s facilities aspects including site preparation and machine installation
Lead activities on programs ensuring successful implementation and tracking of the Iron Triangle (Scope, Timing, and Cost)
Lead their team in the implementation of Stellantis Production Way (SPW) methodology , supporting all activities including deployment of advanced SPW tools and guide systematic root cause problem solving methods to attack risks
Development/improvement of process and equipment standards related to manufacturing engineering specifically for electric hairpin stator and rotor assembly.
Lead industrialization for process design and installation of electric motor hairpin S tator and Rotor line manufacturing lines in Kokomo Indiana .
Drive standardization across plants in all regions
Lead procurement, design, build, install, qualification and launch of facilities and process supporting equipment and infrastructure
Support Stellantis Production Way initiatives
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or technical equivalent
Minimum 7 years manufacturing experience
Minimum of 3 years’ experience in with electric hairpin stator and rotor manufacturing.
Must be able to work and interact with all levels of the organization
Must have strong oral, written, presentation and organizational skills
Ability to analyze, interpret and present data to all levels of the company in easily understandable formats
Ability to implement SPW principles and ability to lead effectively in a bargaining unit environment
High demonstration of leadership and teamwork characteristics.
Ability to embrace cross-functional teams responsible for developing, specifying, building, and launching powertrain manufacturing processes.
Demonstrated abilities to plan and execute large scale projects in time and budget.
Ability to effectively lead, teach, coach and mentor employees.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to build and develop the best teams.
Proficient with Microsoft tools
Flexibility to work all shifts
Daily, weekend and holiday availability
Flexibility to work at off-site locations .
International travel required , US passport or equivalent required.
Knowledge of advanced problem-solving skills and ability to manage data analysis to identify root causes and attack them to closure.
Knowledge of cost studies and strategic planning a plus.
Microsoft Office PowerPoint and Excel intermediate or advance knowledge
Preferred Qualifications:
Advanced degree preferred
Ability to translate technical data and analysis into an executive summary format for presentation
Powertrain Manufacturing experience a plus
Specific E-motor skill sets:
Experience in high volume electrical motor manufacturing including:
STATOR:
Paper folding/slot insertion
Winding experience for stators - Hair-pin forming/bending experience preferred
Laser welding copper ( hair-pins and buss-bars)
Impregnation/trickling of stator windings
Electrical testing of finished stator
ROTOR:
Magnet insertion
Assembly of rotor including segment stacks to rotor shaft
Transfer molding / epoxy bonding for magnets as well as mechanical magnet retention
Rotor balancing
Electrical testing of finished rotor
