Role
Support Quality Control with effective front-line management of the department’s operations and workforce. Working to effectively countermeasure all in house and supplier related quality issues.
Responsibilities
- Assist management in formulating and executing an effective business plan for the QC department.
- Assist QC supervisors in overseeing the day-to-day activities for all QC associates to uphold compliance to standards and to ensure efficient and thorough execution of tasks. Confirm associates’ outputs before submission to management as needed.
- Assist QC supervisors in ensuring that proper training material, training plans, and competency confirmation are in place for all QC associates. Provide associates with on-going feedback on technical and professional subjects to promote continuous growth.
- Directly support internal non-conformance activities as needed, including Gemba investigations. Support QC associates and the subject departments in moving non-conformances forward to closure promptly.
- Maintain an extensive understanding of the production processes and quality controls. Work with subject departments to propose and implement quality improvements to the process.
- Complete reports for customers, including 8D, capability, etc. as required by customers.
- Communicate with customers and suppliers on issues related to quality, including occasional travel to customer locations. Estimated 1 day per month and 0-2 nights per trip.
- Directly support implementing initial containment for quality issues.
- Review and approve abnormal tags. Share responsibility with the subject department to determine appropriate abnormal part disposition and to ensure prompt execute disposition in accordance with company policy.
- Review and approve sorts for quality related issues. Share responsibility with the subject department to ensure that sorts are completed in accordance with company policy.
- Review and approve new gauge validation as assigned by management.
- Oversee major gauge and QA machine issues and provide technical support at needed.
- Assist with disciplinary actions as needed.
- Maintain productive relationships and lead a positive work environment that promotes excellence, teamwork, and growth.
- Manage direct-reports’ timeclock, overtime, and vacation time.
- Comply with all IATF 16949 and ISO 14001 systems to ensure a quality product. Maintain a safe, clean working environment.
- Additional projects assigned by management.
Preferred Qualifications and Education Requirements
- 4-year degree in industrial technology, metrology, or related field or equivalent work experience.
- 5-6 years of experience in automotive manufacturing industry or related field
- Six-sigma greenbelt
- Certified Quality Engineer (CQE)

- ISO 9001 / IATF 16949
- SPC (Statistical Process Control)
- Gauge MSA (Measurement System Analysis)

- Computer Skills: Minitab, Excel, PowerPoint, typing
- Technical writing
- Effective communication with customers and suppliers
