Geriatric Psychiatrist
Inpatient Service
Full-Time Position
This 34-bed geriatric inpatient unit is designed to provide comprehensive evaluation and treatment of psychiatric disorders in the elderly, often complicated by acute or chronic medical problems. Common reasons for admission include late-life depression, psychosis, bipolar disorder, delirium, and dementia-related behavioral disturbances.
Job Responsibilities
- Provide psychiatric evaluations and treatment plans for geriatric patients
- Diagnose and manage a wide range of psychiatric conditions, including mood disorders, anxiety disorders, and psychotic disorders
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement patient care plans
- Document patient progress and outcomes in electronic medical records
- Stay up-to-date with current research and best practices in geriatric psychiatry
Requirements
- Board certification in Psychiatry with added qualification in Geriatric Psychiatry (AGPM) or equivalent experience
- Experience working with geriatric populations, preferably in an inpatient setting
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to work effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion
- Knowledge of electronic medical records systems and willingness to learn new software as needed
