Job Description
Under the direction of the Vice President of Student Services/Chief Student Services Officer and in collaboration with the Early Childhood Education Department, the Program Director coordinates, supervises and models a high-quality early childhood education and care program and oversees general operations of the FRC Child Development Center. The Director ensures compliance with various state and federal regulations, prepares and monitors the CDC’s budget, supervises staff, student employees, and children enrolled in the Center.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, Child/Human Development or a closely related field and
- 24 ECE or CD units (including core courses);
- 6 units administration;
- 2 units adult supervision
- Possess a current Child Development Program Director Permit/ECE Administrator Permit or ability to obtain one by August 1, 2025
- Site supervisor status and one program year of site supervisor experience
- Current driver’s license
- 15 hours of state approved EMSA Preventative Health, Safety and Nutrition training with a current CPR/1st Aid Certificate
- Experience managing grants
- Experience managing budgets
Desirable Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or Child/Human Development
- Previous experience as a Child Development Center Director
- Previous Toddler/Preschool teaching experience
- Experience coordinating curriculum for pre-school age children
- Experience coordinating staff development and parent education such as workshops and seminars
- Demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic and socio-economic, cultural, disability and ethnic backgrounds of community college students and staff
Essential Duties
- Directs and coordinates all aspects of the FRC Child Development Center, which include ensuring compliance with all FRC, state, and federal regulations, policies and procedures. These agencies include: State Department of Social Services Community Care Licensing, California Department of Education, Early Education and Support Division, Child and Adult Care Food Program and all other contractual regulations and legal requirements pertaining to health, safety standards and emergency procedures.
- Supervises, evaluates and provides guidance and leadership to the FRC CDC Staff, student employees, and volunteers
- Ensures required professional development is provided and aligned with applicable credential standards. Develops, monitors, and manages the annual CDC operating budget, including the review and approval of expendituresPrepares a wide variety of reports and correspondence
- Researches and implements age appropriate principles, practices, and curriculum of the CDC
- Assists ECE instructional staff in coordinating classroom, clinical, practicum, and observation experiences for students in the ECE program
- Oversees the development and maintenance of the DRDP systems and portfolio files of each child
- Determines and maintains staffing and ratio requirements in accordance with State regulations
- Assumes teaching responsibilities as necessary
- Establishes procedures for medical, legal and environmental emergencies in compliance with state, local and FRC District polices
- Supervises and works in cooperation with CDC staff with the admission process for enrollment of children into the FRC CDC
- Supervises the maintenance of enrollment and eligibility records and files for enrolled families at the CDC Center
- Serves as the Chair of the FRC CDC Parent Advisory Committee
- Collaborates and serves on local Early Childhood Education councils
- Oversees planning, preparation, purchasing and serving nutritionally appropriate food for children
- Coordinates parent meetings and formal parent conferences with teaching staff
- Oversees the computation of monthly tuition fees, billing functions, state data collection and other recording keeping procedures
- Oversees the purchasing of program materials and supplies; ensures the maintenance of the supplies and equipment annual inventory logs
- Consults collegially with the ECE Faculty/Program Coordinator on the vision, mission, goals, and best practices
- Other duties as assigned
