Salary: $80,000 based on experience
Position Summary:
A Conceptual Estimator with FED Corporation will assist in the proposal process, provide high-level budgets, provide detailed budgets, and create the final bid day solution as a key member of the Pre-Construction team to successfully bring a project together. An ideal candidate has a vast understanding of building practices and the ability to incorporate those practices into the estimate, have the ability to understand a complete set of construction documents, have the ability to see beyond the documents, have a complete understanding of dollars per unit cost, have the ability to recognize risk and eliminate the recognized risk. An ideal candidate for our position would have elevated levels of accuracy and be able to manage a fast-paced workload. Supporting qualifications are someone who pays great attention to detail, holds high standards for creating accurate estimates, and has experience in estimating across multiple divisions. Our Conceptual Estimator should have excellent customer service and communication skills to create professional relationships with our subcontractors. Objectives and Competencies:
Typical duties of a Conceptual Estimator would include the following requirements of the position:
- Creates high-level budgets for proposals.
- Accepting goals from the Chief Estimator to achieve an aggressive bid-hit-win ratio.
- Performs quality take-offs on projects.
- Uphold a professional representation of FED Corporation to subcontractors and clients.
- Creates detailed budgets for all projects under contract.
- Value engineers projects to maintain budget figures.
- Serves as a major benefit to the pre-construction process.
- Ability to identify and appropriately mitigate risk on all projects.
- Review final completed job costs compared to bid estimate with Project Managers and Site Supervisors.
- Collaborates directly with the Chief Estimator on estimate strategy by project.
- Ability to quickly analyze and compare detailed information for inadequacies.
- Conduce reliable and accurate conclusions based on presented data.
Education and Experience: Minimum five years of conceptual estimating experience at a commercial construction level or related field. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project, and CostX (or a similar take-off platform) is required. Candidates must possess excellent written verbal skills and have the ability to present to clients.
Physical Requirements: Individual will be required to perform desk-required functions for much of their day. Sitting, bending, filing, and stretching are included. Travel to visit potential job sites will be required for this position. Employee must be able to sit in a vehicle for an extended period and walk on construction sites that may contain uneven or elevated terrain.
