Summary

This position is located in the Division of Depositor and Consumer Protection, Consumer and Community Affairs Branch of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation and is responsible for the oversight and management of consumer-facing publications in both English and Spanish used throughout the Consumer and Community Affairs Branch (CCAB).

Duties

At the full performance level, major duties include :

  • Provides substantive editing, copy editing, and proofreading of documents addressing consumer financial education and services provided by the FDIC in English and Spanish.
  • Works with CCAB employees to research, brainstorm, and propose digital / social strategy solutions related to CCAB outreach efforts.
  • Writes and edits communications assets (emails, intranet stories and features, etc.), as well as story boards or detailed outlines for creative assets, including videos, for different communications channels in English and Spanish.
  • Serves as a strategic partner and liaison by articulating policies to senior staff, leadership, and peers providing recommendations on issues regarding internal and external communication materials.
  • Serves as the liaison by explaining the laws of FDIC for publication updates with the Office of Communications.
  • Proofreads and edits CCAB publications and presentations for public consumption in both English and Spanish versions; delivers webinars in Spanish.
  • Maintains industry awareness on best practices for communicating to a geographically diverse and traverse workforce.

    Qualifications

    Qualifying experience may be obtained in the private or public sector. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic, religious / spiritual; community; student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.     Bilingual - English and Spanish language skill is required. Applicants must document their ability to read, write, and speak the Spanish language on their resume and demonstrate their language proficiency in both languages at the time of interview. The interview will be conducted in English and Spanish and you will be required to translate documents from English to Spanish and from Spanish to English. Spanish language proficiency is a qualification determining factor.

    Selectee must pass a Spanish language proficiency test and a written communication assessment in English to be eligible for appointment.

    CG-12 : To qualify, applicants must have completed at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS / CG-11 grade level or above in the Federal service.

    Specialized experience is defined as experience writing and editing communications for a variety of documents and publications, such as newsletters, articles, reports, video scripts, brochures and pamphlets, web content and / or social media; reviewing written documents for accuracy and ensuring they meet current organizational style, policies, and practices.

    CG-13 : To qualify, applicants must have completed at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS / CG-12 grade level or above in the Federal service.

    Specialized experience is defined as experience writing and editing communications for a variety of documents and publications, such as newsletters, articles, reports, video scripts, brochures and pamphlets, web content and / or social media; reviewing written documents for accuracy and ensuring they meet current organizational style, policies, and practices; and researching and analyzing information to develop documents and publications.

    Selectee(s) for this position will be required to report to their duty station office two days per week.

    The range of pay shown includes base pay plus supplemental locality adjustments. The locality rates for these duty locations range from a low of 18.65% to a high of 51.75%.   • Knowledge and understanding of standard procedures for dissemination of information through web-based platforms.
  • Knowledge of organizational structure, programs, functions, rules, regulations, regulatory responsibilities, and policies, including communication procedures and practices.
  • Ability to draft written documents and analysis in English and in Spanish.
  • Ability to present information to audiences in English and in Spanish.
  • Ability to provide oral reports and presentations to executive level management officials, particularly on the results of the agency's communication and outreach efforts.
