Federal Engineering & Testing, Inc is a family-owned and operated geotechnical engineering firm in Oakland Park, FL. We have been in business for over 30 years. We are looking to grow our team. We are seeking a driller helper to help perform SPT Borings, Auger Borings, Hand Auger Borings, DCP Borings and Tripod Soil Borings. Occasionally operation of coring equipment will be required. The ideal candidate is a motivated, punctual and dependable individual. This individual must have the ability to communicate efficiently and work well with others. All this work is performed outdoors year-round, so you will be exposed to the various weather we have in Florida.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Operate and assist in maintaining Drill Rigs
- Working along with other drillers.
- Develop a full understanding and following of our safety policies and procedures
- Perform minor repairs and service to equipment
- Responsible for timely and accurate submission of various reports.
- Ability to repair a sprinkler line if hit while drilling
- Must pass company background checks including drug screen
- Local candidates preferred; no relocation assistance provided.
Physical Demands and Requirements:
- Lifting requirements of up to 80 pounds from ground level to waist level and 30 pounds to above shoulder level throughout a scheduled work shift.
- Continuous standing and walking required throughout a scheduled work shift.
- Must be able to perform simple grasping and fine manipulation tasks with both hands.
- Must be able to bend, squat, kneel, crawl, and climb ladders.
- Must be able to work outdoors in wet, muddy, cold, hot and humid weather.
- Must be able to see and hear as reasonably required for the operation of heavy equipment.
- It also requires the ability to reach, lift and perform work above shoulder height—and the ability to work on uneven surfaces and in confined spaces.

Experience:
- have a minimum of 3 Years Geotechnical Drilling Experience (performing SPT borings to a minimum depth of 25’)
- Must have a minimum of 3 Years’ Experience working on a Drill Rig equivalent of a Simco 2800 or CME 45
- Ability to drive and maneuver into tight spots a manual transmission truck mounted drill rig (Ford F-450 or equivalent)
- Knowledge of maintaining Drilling Equipment
- 10-40 hour OSHA training (preferred)
- Familiar with public and private utilities. The ability to judge where to drill to avoid public utilities as much as possible
License:
- Driver's License (Required, do not apply if you do not have a clean valid driver’s license)

- English (Required, additional languages are a plus)
