Position Summary:

Federal Equipment Company has been a leading supplier for marine deck machinery and specialized weapons and material handling systems. Through the years the company has emerged into an internationally recognized organization with extensive expertise in marine design/engineering and manufacturing of critical shipboard systems. The company, now part of Fairbanks Morse Defense, is rapidly growing and in need of a CNC Programmer III.

Essential Job Functions:
  • CNC Programming & Validation
  • Develop, optimize, and validate CNC machining programs for defense components.
  • Simulate toolpaths to detect and prevent errors before production.
  • Ensure CAD programming aligns with manufacturability and process efficiency.
  • Process Optimization & Material Understanding
  • Analyze engineering drawings, BOMs, GD&T, and material properties to refine programming.
  • Optimize machining strategies for hard and soft materials, including dissimilar metals.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, tooling design, and defense tolerances.
  • Collaboration & Troubleshooting
  • Work with design engineers to enhance CAD-based programs for production feasibility.
  • Perform machine setup, initial runs, troubleshooting, and post-machining inspections.
  • Continuously improve programming strategies and material handling techniques.

Qualifications, Skills and Educational Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED required; Associate's degree in engineering technology or higher preferred
  • Advanced skill and proficiency in MasterCAM
  • Demonstrated advanced work holding proficiency
  • Experience with CAD design and its direct impact on manufacturability.
  • Hands-on experience with VERICUT for CNC program validation & simulation.
  • Strong knowledge of GD&T, tooling design, and defense tolerances.
  • Experience machining hard and soft materials, including dissimilar metals.
  • Tool design experience a plus
  • ship required due to the nature of the work.
  • Must be mechanically inclined.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
  • Intermediate to expert knowledge of Y14.5-1994
  • Able to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Works well in a fast-faced environment with minimal day-to-day supervision
  • Proven ability to establish effective working relationships at all levels.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills.
  • Capable of working in a customer-focused, deadline-driven environment while maintaining a positive attitude
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work well alone and as part of a team
  • Attention to detail and ability to deal with complexity
  • Results-oriented with willingness to take responsibility and initiative.

Note: This position requires access or potential access to Unclassified Naval Nuclear Propulsion Information, which is Not Releasable to Foreign Nationals (NOFORN) data. Therefore, to meet NOFORN requirement, you will have to provide proof of ship and attest that you do not have dual citizenship. Acceptable proof of ship is a US Passport, US Birth Certificate or Naturalization Certificate.
