SUMMARY OF POSITION:
The Federal Home Loan Banks Office of Finance (“OF”) is a joint office of each of the 11 Federal Home Loan Banks (“FHLBanks”). The Capital Markets department within the OF is the fiscal agent for the FHLBanks, primarily responsible for issuing and servicing Consolidated Obligations (“COs”) on behalf of the FHLBanks. The Capital Markets Analyst role is an entry level position which offers employees the chance to rotate through different roles within the Capital Markets department for a specific period. During the rotation period, employees will learn and develop both technical and analytical skills associated with short-term and long-term funding, debt servicing, business intelligence and investor relations. PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assisting in the day-to-day short-term funding, long-term funding and debt servicing activities including, but not limited to, supporting and coordinating FHLBanks CO issuance, debt settlements and payments and producing funding indications and guidelines.
- Gathering and evaluating data from various inputs and utilizing the qualitative and quantitative data to make informed recommendations and decisions.
- Preparing and presenting daily market commentary.
- Developing strong relationships with internal OF employees, 11 FHLBanks, over 60 securities dealers, interest rate derivative counterparties and other related market participants.
- Responding to incoming requests from the FHLBanks, dealers, investors, the Federal Reserve, the FHLBanks regulator (i.e., Federal Home Finance Agency), interest rate derivative counterparties, and other related market participants regarding execution of debt transactions.
- Assisting with the creation and maintenance of business process documentation, process diagrams and Capital Markets projects.
- Supporting the OF’s diversity and inclusion strategy by following policies and procedures that help to ensure opportunities for employees and diverse business partners.
- Other job duties as assigned, including a variety of cross-departmental projects as new business needs emerge.
PRINCIPAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, economics or related field of study is required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with PowerBI or other business intelligence tools.
- Proficiency with using basic statistical concepts; familiarity with statistical software, such as R or SQL preferred.
- Ability to work within a fast-paced, high-performing team in an inclusive work environment.
- Capacity to work on several assignments concurrently and prioritize appropriately.
- Effective oral and written communications skills.
- Strong organizational and planning skills.
- Attention to detail.
