What are the responsibilities and job description for the Configuration Management Specialist position at Federal Management Systems?
The Senior Configuration Management Specialist will be responsible for leading the configuration management (CM) efforts for a new cloud-based government contracting software system. This individual will work closely with government customers, software developers, and system architects to establish and maintain configuration control, develop workflows, and ensure seamless data interfaces across integrated platforms. The specialist will play a critical role in managing version control, change management processes, and compliance with government contracting regulations while leveraging Agile/Scrum methodologies to align software development with customer needs. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in government contracting, cloud-based software systems, and software configuration management best practices.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field. Five (5) or more years of experience in software configuration management, with a focus on government contracting systems.
- Experience with cloud-based software development, including Software-as-a-Service (SaaS), COTS, GOTS or Commercial Service solutions.
- Strong understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies and experience working in Agile development environments.
- Knowledge of API integrations, data workflow management, and system interoperability best practices.
- Familiarity with government compliance requirements, including FedRAMP, NIST, FISMA, and DoD RMF.
- Experience with IT Service Management (ITSM) and change control processes is a plus. ITIL, Certified Scrum Master (CSM), or Configuration Management certifications (e.g., CMII, CMPIC) are highly desirable.
