The Federal Public Defender’s Office in the Central District of California is accepting applications for a full-time Human Resources Administrative Assistant to join our Operations & Policy Unit. This role supports over 230 employees across our Los Angeles, Santa Ana, and Riverside offices, with the selected candidate based in Los Angeles. Our office is committed to the pursuit of justice by advocating for the constitutional rights and inherent dignity of individuals accused or convicted of crimes, including those sentenced to death, who cannot afford legal representation.
Job Duties
The Human Resources Administrative Assistant will assist with various personnel-related functions, including but not limited to :
- Coordinating employee onboarding and offboarding.
- Timely processing a high volume of personnel actions in the Judiciary’s Human Resources Management Information System.
- Preparing for open season and managing benefits communication.
- Creating reports and maintaining personnel records.
- Handling all aspects of workers compensation claims, reasonable accommodation requests, and retirement counseling.
- Assisting in managing conflicts and assisted resolutions.
- Point of Contact for employee personnel information flow with payroll, benefits division, and outside agencies.
- Supporting recruiting and retention processes.
- Drafting personnel policies and procedures and explaining them to new and existing employees.
- Providing orientations and office trainings on various Judiciary and in-house policies and procedures to staff and supervisors.
- Collaborating on community initiatives.
- Performing other duties as assigned.
