What are the responsibilities and job description for the Work Cell - Electronic position at Federal Signal?
Summary of Position:
Performs duties to identify, order, store and assemble a wide variety of Electrical/Electro-Mechanical/Mechanical components and assemblies. Performs simple wire and soldering operations using current manufacturing processes. Must be able to perform Go/No Go tests on small lights, controls and various other sub-assemblies/finished models.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Works from blueprints, schedules, shop orders, specification sheets, process instructions and test instructions.
- Reviews production schedules for specific periods and arranges for parts, materials, supplies, tooling, gauges and other equipment to meet production requirements.
- Requisitions and stores materials.
- Passes Kan Ban cards to producing departments per defined guidelines.
- Accumulates and moves items between storage areas and work cells.
- Fills out and submits requisitions, move tickets, finished goods tickets and scrap tickets.
- Selects, verifies and identifies quantity of materials. Records and/or calls attention to shortages, possible rejected or damaged materials.
- Sets up work cell equipment.
- Makes necessary adjustments of tools, gauges and equipment. Makes operational checks as required. Monitors work visually to maintain quality standards and notifies supervisor of nonconformance and/or operating difficulties.
- Performs preventative maintenance (cleaning, oiling, inspecting and minor adjustments) on equipment in the work cell.
- Trains new and existing employees how to effectively work within the department, instructs them in all facets of the work cell operation.
- Follows safety rules and keeps work cell area in a clean and orderly condition.
- Uses computer to check the status of a customer’s order and the status of a shop order.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Education and Work Experience:
- High School diploma required.
- Experience with light mechanical and/or electrical assembly required.
- Ability to operate power tools, hand tools, pallet jacks, hand trucks, fixed gauges, jigs, meters, soldering irons, riveters, presses and crimping tools required.
- Mechanical aptitude, attention to detail and sound judgement required.
Wage Range: $16.42/hr - $20.87/hr
