What are the responsibilities and job description for the Corp Data Analyst position at Federal Signal?
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Support the creation of data-intensive models that are geared at optimizing key strategic decisions across sales, operations, and capital allocation.
- Data Analytics/Intelligence: Support the development and maintain detailed market share analysis by key products and business units. Additionally, provide support for creation of quarterly and annual market intelligence reports for senior management and business unit leaders as requested.
- Data Automation/Intelligence: Support data aggregation/data automation efforts across key external KPIs for the company in order to provide timely intelligence to business units & senior management.
- Support and provide sales lead generations by analyzing large unstructured data sets for key Federal Signal products.
- Provide ad hoc analysis and support special projects as requests are made and assigned.
- Maintain historical and current data sets monitored across the organization.
- Support realization of corporate strategic initiatives through (1) the identification of new data-based intelligence offerings and (2) business-unit specific data analysis.

Position Requirements
- Bachelor's degree required; concentration in Data Science, Finance, Statistics, Economics, or other related field desirable.
- 1 - 2 years' experience mining, manipulating, and formatting large data sets to assist in construction of models in a Corporate environment highly desirable.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Advanced Microsoft Excel knowledge required.
- Proficiency in SQL and data manipulation tools (e.g., Python, R) preferred.
- Experience and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Word, etc.).
- Intellectual curiosity; willingness to deeply study key end-markets, products, emerging technologies, and large data sets.
- Independently research, identify, and analyze new data sets that aid the strategic planning process.
- Critical thinking and drive to understand the unique set of issues, dynamics each project involves.
- Ability to interpret data and make thoughtful business recommendations.
- Foundational level skills in finance, forecasting, and related analysis including modeling and problem-solving skills.
- Be self-motivated and results driven with excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Ability to work with large sets of unstructured data independently.
