What are the responsibilities and job description for the Field Service Technician position at Federal Signal?
Key Activities/Responsibilities:
- Train customers on new and existing Liquidator Units. Each training session is 4-5 days. (typically at customers location)
- Training includes operation of the complete unit, maintenance/service of hydraulic and high-pressure water system, component repairs, rebuilding component assemblies, tip configurations for different removal applications, troubleshooting system failures.
- Utilizing the training manual with customers and getting customer sign-offs in each applicable section
- Loading signed training documents in CRM
- Provide technical support on-site or over the phone to assist in troubleshooting, part repairs/replacements, and operating set-ups/questions. Enter event into the CRM
- Perform repair services on customer units at Blasters or at the customers facility
- Perform quality control testing on new units at Blasters prior to shipping.
- Deliver new Liquidators to customers when needed
- Participate in “demo runs” in different regions of the country with a Liquidator sales rep. Assist the sales rep by driving the Liquidator to the scheduled locations, operate the unit during the demonstration, and answer any technical questions.
- Respond to after-hours customer inquiries on service/repair. 80% of customers operate at night.
- Actively participate in continuous improvement of our products and processes to better serve our customers and improve the overall profitability of Jetstream/Blasters.
- Follow and comply with all safety and personal protective equipment requirements
- Must be willing to travel an average of 50% of the time. Some months may require more, some may require less
- Assist with Liquidator part sales by identifying what part is required through troubleshooting the system on-site or over the phone with the customer
- Analyze, troubleshoot, recommend and document resolution for warranty repairs.
- Make sure warranties are properly recorded in the warranty tracking log
- Coordinate parts order and/or any returns
- Ability to schedule travel arrangements for training, site visits, trade shows, etc. using economical choices and following company guidelines.
- Assist in making training/repair videos to develop a resource library for our customers on a controlled access platform.
- Collaborate with internal departments and provide technical support to build or repair Liquidators
- Work with engineering on R&D projects when in town and at the shop and not handling any technical issues.
- Willing and able to travel 60% with short notice, often overnight, on the road for approximately 200 /- days per year.
- Perform other duties and assignments as requested.
Requirements
- Must have a Class “B” CDL license with N (Tanker) Endorsement
- 5 years related experience; heavy duty equipment assembly and/or operation.
- Experience working with electrical, hydraulic and/or mechanical systems.
- Ability to obtain a Passport for international travel.
- Strong written and verbal communications abilities
- Possess a valid Driver’s License
- Ability to lift up to 50 lb. and climb stairs and ladders.
- Working knowledge of standard hand tools
- Working knowledge of computer programs (MS Office Products).
- Ability to learn and operate CRM for entering technical information to customers files
