What are the responsibilities and job description for the Paint Shop Technician position at Federal Signal?
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Operates and uses all body shop equipment properly and safely.
- Removes rust from metal, and grease and dirt from work surface.
- Masks or covers parts that are not to be painted or coated.
- Load/Unload trucks
- Blast Parts, sand parts and hang parts
- Wash Truck/Parts
- Fills cavities and/or dents to attain smooth surface.
- Mixes paint according to specifications.
- Mixes coating to produce desired color.
- Inspects painted units for quality.
- Maintains tools and keeps equipment clean and in a proper state of repair.
- Keeps work area clean.
- Obtain necessary materials needed for shipping or stocking.
- Read and follow internal and external order sheets.
- Empty chip and scrap buckets into correct receptacle.
- Use appropriate software system to verify status of inventory.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Follow and comply with all safety and personal protective equipment requirements.
Requirements:
- Able to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence and memos.
- Ability to write correspondence.
- Be able to lift a maximum of 50 lbs.
- Must be able to pass Fork Lift Certification process.
- Possess basic computer operating and data entry skills.
