What are the responsibilities and job description for the Technician Quality position at Federal Signal?
To ensure the quality of Federal Signal products and services through planned and systematic activities. Develop systems and measurements to highlight opportunities for improvement throughout the company to ensure robust products are consistently produced to meet and exceed customer expectations.
Key Activities/Responsibilities :
- Works with production work centers to aid in problem identification, root cause analysis, and corrective action for continuous improvement of the products and processes.
- Assists in the disposition of nonconforming material; be it supplier materials at MRB, production materials, or customer returns.
- Proficient with reading engineering drawings, written specifications, production documentation, using calibrated inspection equipment such as gauges, calipers, multimeters, and other inspection equipment.
- Coordinates First Source approval of new components with Engineering, Production, and Quality.
- Performs process audits in support shops, sub-assembly, and final assembly to assure that all personnel have access to the correct documents, equipment, materials, and training; and that they are manufacturing product in accordance with specifications.
- Gathers, analyzes, and reports product field performance data to the organization, and occasionally travels to conduct customer surveys.
- Performs product audits of finished goods to assure that product is complete, correct, and conforms to required specifications.
- Assists Engineering and Quality with performance of product testing beginning with design development and continuing, as necessary, throughout the product life.
- Maintains current knowledge of changes in the Quality Assurance sources field which may include ongoing education and active participation in a professional society.
- Performs other related duties as assigned
Job Requirements:
- Associates degree in a technical field with one to three year’s quality experience in a manufacturing environment.
- One to three years’ experience in a design and manufacturing environment.
- Strong preference on quality experience
- Ability to read blueprints and possesses basic inspection skills; mechanical and electrical.
- Knowledge of Quality systems, ISO 9001, quality improvement techniques, and computer applications such as Microsoft Office.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work with people
Salary Range: $49,070 - $70,100 Bonus
