What are the responsibilities and job description for the Test Technician - Large Assembly position at Federal Signal?
Key Activities/Responsibilities:
- Perform daily work in support of scheduled build plan, with emphasis on meeting completion dates and quality expectations.
- Communicate progress and completions to the supervisor/manager.
- Work with other areas to efficiently resolve test failures.
- Report all non-conforming parts, materials or drawings to manager.
- Support production efforts by working in areas needing additional capacity
- Ensure conformance to processes, test criteria and that proper documentation is taking place.
- Assist Large Assembly team in problem resolution during production process.
- Ensure any defects found are documented and corrected prior to delivery of unit.
- Document and complete any necessary paperwork in assigned area.
- Perform routine maintenance on equipment; Order/Schedule/Log repair work on testing assets.
- Recommend test apparatus and procedure improvements, especially safety improvements.
- Manage testing supplies, maintenance items, tools, and fuel as needed for testing efficiency.
- Perform all work in accordance with engineering procedures to ensure safety, environmental compliance, and consistency of test data.
- Record test data in a neat and orderly fashion and in a timely manner.
- Ensure production testing is expedited for customers, ensuring product operates within specifications.
- Maintain organization, cleanliness, and overall effectiveness of the test area.
- Operate and maintain ultra-high-pressure pumps/units to support production testing of waterblast tools.
- Manage Safety initiatives for the test facility, ensure safety equipment is maintained, enforce PPE guidelines when necessary. Suggest and implement safety improvements as needed.
- Perform other duties, assignments and special projects as required.
Requirements
- HS Diploma or GED equivalent
- 5 or more years of assembly experience assembling powered equipment, pumps and sub-assemblies, required.
- 1 or more years as lead technician, preferred.
- 1 or more years’ experience using ERP systems to enter time, labor and parts.
- Basic computer skills
- High mechanical aptitude
- Ability to read and understand engineering drawings, process sheets and work instructions
- Ability to lift 50lbs, climb stairs and ladders.
- Knowledge of diesel maintenance, hand tools, and reciprocation power pumps.
- Ability to follow instructions pertaining to assembly, testing, and procedures.
- Ability to verify dimensions of parts and installation of components using measuring Instruments including calipers, micrometers, tape measure, etc.
- Ability to read and understand hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical schematics.
- Understanding of fluid fittings and proper installation. (Hose and fitting identification)
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
- Good organizational skills.
Pay Transparency
Anticipated salary range: $24 - $25/hour
