What are the responsibilities and job description for the Truck Driver position at Federal Signal?
Duties:
- Transport trucks and other equipment in a safe and timely manner
- Report to a dispatcher any incidents encountered on the road
- Follow all applicable traffic laws and DOT regulations reporting as required
- Inspect their truck and trailer before and after the trip, and record any defects they find
- Document and log work/rest periods and miles spent driving and retain fuel/toll receipts
- Report serious mechanical problems to the appropriate personnel
- Keep their truck and associated equipment clean and in good working order
- Ensures that all orders are delivered to customers in a timely and professional manner
- Addresses and resolves any issues with delayed shipments
- Communicate with the dispatcher after each delivery or pick up
- Other duties may be assigned as necessary
Requirements:
- Education: Valid Class A CDL and a clean record. No recent driving and moving violations.
- Experience: At least 3-5 years of proven over the road experience as a truck driver
- Skills: Hands on experience with electronic equipment and software (GPS, CB, etc)
- Other: Ability to drive long hours and travel regularly, Ability to climb up and down truck, Ability to tie down materials/load. Exhibits knowledge of state and federal regulations and guidelines of trucking, Adaptability and foresight to handle unexpected situations (traffic, weather conditions, etc.), Must be able to load and unload your own load.
