What are the responsibilities and job description for the School Support Coordinator position at Federal Way Public Schools?
- Support building principals in all Human Resource matters in service of the Strategic Plan.
- Serve as the first HR point of contact for principals and other hiring managers for questions and concerns.
- Support principals’ needs related to classified staff changes, such as hour change requests; resolve discrepancies.
- Serve as the first HR point of contact for employees who have questions about their compensation.
- Responsible for the accuracy of compensation; input data and update information in the human resource information system (HRIS). Calculate placement on the salary schedule, prepare, enter pay.
- Responsible for the accuracy of calculating and processing payroll for leaves of absence, retirements, and separations for staff in accordance with District rules and procedures relating to the HRIS.
- Responsible for initiating sick leave and vacation balances for staff based upon negotiated contracts, supplemental contracts, special agreements, regulations; assure accuracy of compensation.
- Enter pay for staff receiving stipends based upon negotiated agreements and regulations; Issues and receives contracts for supplemental pay.
- Responsible for ensuring license and certificate compliance of staff upon hire; maintain and update as changes occur for all staff.
- Evaluate new certificated and classified employee university/college transcripts guaranteeing correct salary placement; input data into HRIS.
- Input data and update information for staff in HRIS; maintain and updating personnel records for staff, stipend-only staff, and supplemental contracts.
- Correspond with employees to give notice of and verify changes in payroll.
- Communicates and coordinates with departments and/or schools regarding payroll issues.
- Complete employment verifications relating to financial loans, previous employment for salary placement, Department of Retirement, Support Enforcement, student loans, or tenant agreements for renting for employees.
- Assist applicants and staff with salary questions and concerns.
- Maintain staffing documentation to ensure FTE allocations remain within budgeted amount.
- Interpret and apply CBA language for the purpose of delivering services in conformance with established guidelines.
- Participate on recruiting teams, conduct initial screening process, and function as an HR lead at designated career fairs and recruiting venues. Initiate follow-up contacts with candidates and hiring managers. Complete reference checks when appropriate.
- Develop and manage complex databases; develop and run complex and accurate reports. Collect, disaggregate, and analyze data to assist the Human Resources Leadership Team in determining effectiveness of recruiting and retention processes. Make appropriate recommendations to designated HR Administrator(s).
- Take initiative to find solutions, create more effective processes to continually improve the efficiency of position.
- Serve on committees and undertake projects related to function.
The School Support Coordinator is the primary liaison between Human Resources and administrators at both schools and the administrative building. This position also serves all applicants and employees by answering questions and/or guiding them through processes. This position will support the District’s mission for ensuring equity, inclusion, and diversity by using an equity-based lens that will transform outcomes for all students. The School Support Coordinator should be familiar with labor law and collective bargaining agreements (CBA) including interpretation and application. The School Support Coordinator works with administrators to ensure compliance with procedures such as screening applications, interview processes and candidate selection. The individual in this position will onboard new hires, conduct new hire orientation, determine salary placement and enter pay. This position requires an individual that can work in a fast pace environment and have the ability to meet inflexible deadlines The School Support Coordinator must present an exemplary, professional customer service attitude to represent an appropriate District image.
