Federated Co-ops Inc. is hiring a Power Equipment / Small Engine Mechanic Lead to work out of our Moose Lake Country Store location! We are looking for someone who excels in customer service/sales, can maintain a positive attitude and an organized workspace. This person will also provide store and location support as needed. As a Power Equipment / Small Engine Mechanic Lead, you will repair riding and walk behind mowers, snow blowers, utility vehicles and other power equipment. This position will diagnose, repair and replace power equipment parts and provide standard service and maintenance by performing the following duties:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities of the Power Equipment / Small Engine Mechanic Lead. Other duties may be assigned
- Locate causes of trouble, dismantle engines, and examine parts for defects.
- Provide repair and time estimates.
- Provide customer sales, service, and support.
- Replace or repair parts such as rings and bearings.
- Clean/adjust/replace carburetor and fuel systems.
- Start repaired engines and listen to sounds to test performance.
- Replace engines on machines.
- Repair/replace mower decks, blades, and performs routine service.
- Repair and replace drive systems.
- Operate company vehicles, equipment, and forklift.
- Maintain a clean work area and perform work in a neat and orderly fashion.
- Follow all safety rules and regulations in performing work assignments.
- Complete all reports and forms required in conjunction with work assignments.
- Accounts for all time on a timecard and for all material used in performing assigned duties.
- Provide store and location support as needed.
Qualifications
Education and/or Experience:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- At least two years of full time mechanical, electrical and combustion engine repair experience repairing large and small lawn equipment, utility vehicles, mowers, tillers, generators, and other related equipment
- Experience with MTD small engines preferred but not required
- Experience with Utility Vehicle repair and service is desired
- Experience with product ordering
- Ability to use a computer for parts inquiries, ordering, and processing warranty claims
- Working mechanical knowledge, including the use of tools and test equipment
- Ability to perform accurate repair of customer product
- Ability to follow directions and specific process steps to ensure quality workmanship
- Must complete all technician training elements within required time frames
- Ability to work a Monday- Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm
- Must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license
- Must be at least 18 years of age as this position will operate forklift, company vehicles and equipment

The actual pay offered will vary based on multiple factors which include, without limitation, experience, education, training, specialized skills and certifications.
