The job is fast-paced, physically challenging, rewarding.

Position

Route driver to deliver FedEx Ground packages in box truck or straight truck / step van. (CDL not required.)

Skills/Abilities

• drive box truck or straight truck / stepvan on all types of roads
• lift heavy and/or bulky packages with safe techniques.
• manage time efficiently.
• navigate with iPad software, utilize Scanner.
• provide customer service, problem-solve
• maintain company truck for DOT compliance.

The ideal candidate is

• a hard worker in good physical condition and able to meet the demands of the job (heavy lifting, moving packages safely and quickly with and without dolly, frequent on and off truck at rapid pace).
• Please note: must be able to move packages up to 150 lbs, up to 108" in length, and 165" in length plus girth. A hand dolly is provided.
• reliable; customers count on us to deliver their packages correctly, in tact, and on time.
• willing to work five days a week and sometimes six days a week
• friendly and helpful to co-workers and customers.
• a safe driver with a clean driving record.
• able to pass a drug screen and criminal background check (goes back 10-20 years depending on violation)
• able to manage time, handle 100 stops in a day, even in less dense rural areas
• experienced in commercial driving (preferred, not required)

Daily Responsibilities:

In this fast-paced job, daily tasks may include (but are not limited to)

• inspecting truck daily pre- and post-route
• efficiently planning and navigating route using provided iPad and Ground Cloud app
• reviewing packages on loaded truck and organizing packages for efficiency
• driving in a safe and courteous manner
• scanning, delivering, and receiving packages in a timely fashion and according to protocol
• moving body quickly and efficiently to deliver packages
• applying appropriate codes to various delivery and pick-up situations
• helping customers resolve problems
• helping co-workers with deliveries when needed
• keeping truck clean and paying attention to truck maintenance needs
• communicating with managers
• completing regular safety training modules

Training

Management will ensure drivers are properly trained in safe driving techniques and delivery protocol. Management is available to provide support for problematic situations or to answer questions about proper procedures. Regular safety training is provided on iPad and in periodic meetings.

Work Schedule

• Usually six days a week Monday through Saturday. Sundays off and one other day off except in periods of high demand. Working six days a week, including Sundays, will most likely be required during peak season of November and December.
• Drivers start early in the morning (around 7:15 A.M.) and work until all packages are delivered and picked up and the truck is returned to the terminal. The length of the driver's day will vary depending on the amount of packages and stops that day and driver efficiency.

Pay, Bonuses, and Benefits

Compensation

• Training pay $135.00/day (a few days to a couple weeks, depending on person)
• Regular pay starts $140.00 /day

Time off:

New employees can earn up to six days of paid time off in one year.

Uniforms:

A couple days worth of shirts and bottoms, a hat, and a jacket are provided. Employees provide comfortable black tennis shoes or boots and socks.
