Job Description Summary:
- Leads the development and execution of multiple holistic, enterprise-wide category management strategies, including strategic sourcing, supplier relationship management, diversity, and risk management initiatives.
- Develops, executes, and manages sourcing strategies for complex categories using the FedEx sourcing methodology.
- Responsible for strategic functions including: evaluation of category/spend information, benchmarking, and making recommendations for sourcing strategy and supplier scorecard criteria.
- Develops category expertise, category management expertise, and market contacts, working closely with suppliers and internal stakeholders in all aspects of sourcing.
- Leads complex internal projects/programs.
- Develops negotiating strategy and leads negotiations to successful outcomes of significant corporate impact.
- Effectively interacts with executives. Acts with senior-level authority with suppliers, business stakeholders, Finance, and Legal.
Job Specific Position Overview:
- Works with colleagues across functions of the FedEx IT to develop and recommend category strategies and sourcing strategies for applicable IT categories.
- Uses deep knowledge of the supplier market for IT to deliver value and find opportunities for the FedEx IT estate.
- Partner with colleagues to manage RFIs RFPs and analyze supplier responses for IT hardware, software, and/or services.
- Provide category management expertise, sourcing best practices, leverage IT industry knowledge and market analysis to identify and deliver on savings/improvement opportunities for the FedEx IT estate.
- Challenge traditional ways of working throughout process.
- Identify potential cost-savings opportunities using Total Cost of Ownership approach.
- Reviews and advises a Sourcing team on the development and execution of holistic, enterprise-wide category management strategies, including strategic sourcing, supplier relationship management, diversity, and risk management initiatives.
- Leads and guides the team through the strategic sourcing process, utilizing the FedEx sourcing methodology to develop a world-class supply chain.
- Design and drive overall category strategies, source suppliers for the various IT categories while optimizing commercial terms and total cost of ownership.
- Uses data science principles to examine complex datasets and deliver recommendations based on sound logic and evidence.
- Establishes supplier scorecard criteria and monitors supplier performance.
- Effectively identifies, manages, and monitors risk.
- Works on multiple complex assignments concurrently.
- Leads and manages cross-functional teams and projects.
- Develops, mentors, and empowers less experienced team members in effective category management.
- Effectively interacts with executives on a routine basis.
- Acts with senior-level authority with suppliers, business stakeholders, Finance, and Legal.
- Manage the end-to-end strategic sourcing process including data and market analysis, strategy development, pricing negotiations, contract review and negotiations, licensing, reseller and equipment maintenance.
- Lead small-to-large scale sourcing initiatives achieving significant cost reductions while maintaining and improving supplier quality and service levels.
- Oversee and advise on contract structure and terms and conditions.
- Heavy emphasis on technical services and software licensing agreements.
- Apply industry best practices and market trends to create forward-thinking category strategies.
- Serve as a trusted business advisor to internal business partners, providing counsel and guidance in the acquisition of products and services.
- Provide project management and strategic guidance to cross-functional teams and co-workers throughout the sourcing process.
- Identifying and achieving cost reductions through strong analytical and leadership skills.
- Maintain a continuous approach to learning and gathering market intelligence in order to keep up with the best source of supply, benchmarking, and market trends.
- Engage with key business leaders, colleagues, and other stakeholders to gather business requirements and specifications within multiple Corporate Functions and incorporate these into sourcing strategies, supplier selections and decisions.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in supply chain, business, finance, mathematics or other quantitative discipline.
- Minimum four (4) years work experience in sourcing or related field. A related advanced degree may offset the related experience requirements.
- Excellent analytical skills.
- Superior demonstrated skills with current technology tools/advances, and database/analytical tools.
- Proven interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
- Proven negotiating skills and project management skills
Skills/Knowledge/Experience Considered a Plus:
- MBA or related master’s degree (e.g. in an IT-related field) would be a plus.
- Abundant experience with IT procurement including demonstrated experience with contract review and negotiations, all phases of strategic sourcing and category strategies, supplier relationship management and project management.
- Strong leadership and mentorship skills and ability to influence through factual effective communication and presentation skill.
- Strong interpersonal and team building skills to manage relationships throughout the organization.
Work/Domicile Location:
- This position will be hybrid within a reasonable commutable distance from a specific FedEx office location. The desired location for this position is Collierville (Memphis), Tennessee, however the position may also be hybrid in Plano, Texas or Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. This position is hybrid, meaning that employees must be onsite as directed by leadership but allows team members flexibility to work from home otherwise.
