What are the responsibilities and job description for the Meteorologist position at FedEx?
Provides global aviation and U.S. surface movement forecasts for weather decision support to flight operations and global operations control to mitigate weather impacts to the line haul system.
Essential Functions
- Provides global aviation and U.S. surface movement forecasts, preparing and issuing terminal and en-route weather forecasts.
- Develops and issues truck weather route and area forecasts.
- Provides written and/or oral weather briefings to control center personnel, flight crew members, and other company personnel.
- Coordinates with global operations control ATC personnel to provide weather briefings to flight operations and other company personnel. . Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Education
Bachelor’s degree/equivalent in meteorology or atmospheric/earth science.
Minimum Experience
Three (3) years related experience in a combination of synoptic, mesoscale, surface and upper air aviation weather forecasting.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of weather data processing systems. Strong decision-making and communication skills.
Job Conditions
Must be willing to work variable shifts, including weekends and holidays.
