Overview of position:
FEDITC is seeking a Network Engineer II to join our team in the Texarkana, TX area. This role is critical to maintaining and supporting Red River Army Depot’s (RRAD) advanced IT and communication systems. The selected candidate will provide end-user technical support, perform system maintenance, and ensure the proper configuration of specialty applications and equipment. Responsibilities include managing and repairing Motorola-based Land Mobile Radios (LMRs), troubleshooting hardware and connectivity issues, and assisting with LMP-connected hardware and software. This position requires a proactive professional capable of working closely with Government personnel to ensure compliance with Army and FCC regulations.
A United States Citizenship and an active Secret DoD Security Clearance is required to be considered for this position.
Responsibilities:
IT Duties:
- Augment government personnel in resolving Network Open Systems Interconnection (OSI) Model Layer 1 and 2 trouble tickets: troubleshooting and repairing hardware and network connectivity issues.
- Augment government personnel in installing, testing, and troubleshooting various types of network cables (e.g. CAT6, fiber-optic) in ceilings, walls, floors.
- Assess job sites, measure and plan cable runs, and ensure materials are ready.
- Mount and install network racks, wireless access points, security cameras, and other IT hardware.
- Maintain and troubleshoot PCs in a windows environment, including hardware, software, printing, and network connectivity issues (both wired and wireless).
- Identify and fix basic hardware and connectivity issues in network and AV installations.
- Maintain and troubleshoot other technologies, such as surveillance systems, phones, and projection systems.
- Maintain documentation of IT processes, procedures, and user guides to facilitate knowledge sharing.
Radio Duties:
- Adjusts, tests, services, maintains and installs vehicle-mounted and handheld Land-Mobile Radios (LMRs).
- Supports and configures the Motorola hardware and software used in customer implementations: configure radios.
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and resolve LMR equipment problems with customers in a positive and efficient manner.
- Repair customer equipment by replacing defective modules or components through standard troubleshooting procedures and practices.
- Provide hands-on of communications equipment and peripheral hardware installation such as mobile devices, portable devices, base stations, and repeaters.
- Install coaxial cabling, connectors, antennas, and couplers in accordance with customer requirements and industry standards.
- Record radio user and spectrum information in accordance with RRAD procedures and provide this information to government personnel to ensure compliance with Army and FCC regulations for LMR systems.
- Obtain and install radio repair parts, perform repairs, maintain repair logs, and ensure compliance with other terms of the Contract without purchasing complete radios.
- Documents critical data such as damage, missing parts, model numbers, etc.
- Must complete all required paperwork for proper accountability for RRAD-owned IT assets.
- Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job.
- Continuous learning mindset with a keen interest in staying updated with the latest advancements in the field.
Other support duties as needed/directed:
- Install and repair POE cameras and their supporting systems.
- Provide technical support for clients regarding access control systems.
- Maintain access control systems and related hardware.
- Install/Repair door hardware, card readers and cameras.
Experience/Skills:
- Familiarity with networking equipment, patch panels, and structured cabling is a plus.
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite, such as Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Experience using drills, cable testers, crimpers, and other basic tools and electronic test and repair equipment for installation and maintenance.
- Familiarity with fusion splicing is preferred
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Strong communication skills for interacting with clients and team members
- Ability to follow written instructions, experience with schematics and wiring diagrams preferred.
- Must be able to walk, sit, and/or stand for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to lift at least 35 pounds.
- Perform ongoing housekeeping duties to keep work area clean and orderly.
- Follow proper safety procedures, wear protective gear, and ensure all work meets quality standards.
- Must be comfortable working in commercial and industrial settings: at heights, in confined spaces, on ladders, lifts, catwalks, and crawlspaces.
- Must be able to operate forklift
Education:
- High School Diploma or GED minimum requirement; Associate degree or significant work experience in electronics or computer technology field is preferred
Clearance:
- Active Secret Security Clearance is required
- Must be a US Citizen and pass a background check
- Maintain applicable security clearance(s) at the level required by the client and/or applicable certification(s) as requested by FEDITC and/or required by FEDITC’S Client(s)/Customer(s)/Prime contractor(s)
