Overview of position:
FEDITC is seeking a Vehicle Automotive/Mobility Engineer - Lead in the Warren, MI area.
This is an upcoming opportunity contingent on contract award with a projected start date of March 2025.
Primary Responsibilities
- Lead the design, development, integration, and testing of vehicle powertrain and mobility systems for military ground vehicles.
- Oversee the lifecycle management of ground vehicle systems, ensuring continuous improvement and operational readiness.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to develop and optimize automotive components, including engines, transmissions, and suspension systems.
- Provide technical expertise and guidance on the integration of powertrain systems (Engine, Transmission, Final Drives, Power Transmission Devices, and Hydraulic Power Systems) into military vehicle platforms.
- Lead the development and integration of track and suspension systems (Track/Pitches, Sprockets, Roadwheels, Idlers, Return Rollers, and Hydro-pneumatic Road Arms) to ensure vehicle performance and reliability.
- Conduct testing, troubleshooting, and performance evaluations to ensure compliance with military standards and specifications.
- Coordinate with DoD and military personnel, contractors, and stakeholders to define project requirements and deliver technical solutions.
Preferred Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree from an ABET-accredited program in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering from a college or university.
- Master’s degree in any of the preceding disciplines may be substituted for one year of general experience.
Experience:
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in the design, development, integration, testing, and lifecycle management of vehicle systems, with experience in one or a combination of the following:
- Powertrain systems (Engine, Transmission, Final Drives, Power Transmission Devices, and Hydraulic Power Systems).
- Track and Suspension Systems (Track/Pitches, Sprockets, Roadwheels, Idlers, Return Rollers, and Hydro-pneumatic Road Arms).
Skills:
- Strong leadership skills with experience managing engineering projects related to automotive mobility systems. Knowledge of vehicle powertrain and suspension systems is critical. Familiarity with military vehicle design standards and DoD acquisition processes.
Clearance:
- Secret Clearance (or higher) required.
