Job Overview:

Client is looking for one full time Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner

Position Title: Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner

Client: North-western Community Services Board (A behavioral Health Agency)

Location: Thomas J. Peachey Center: 209 West Criser Road, Suite 300 Front Royal, VA 22630

Prosperity Clinic: 170 Prosperity Drive, Winchester, VA 22602

Job Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM; however, the schedule may be adjusted upon request of the incumbent or needs of the agency at the discretion of the supervisor or program director.

Responsibilities:

· Conducts client assessments and provides therapeutic interventions including the provision of on-going medication management services.

· Provides consultation and health education to agency staff, caregivers and clients as it is related to the treatment and medication needs of agency consumers.

· Provides special assessments of consumers awaiting discharge from state facilities, participates in discharge planning with other agency and facility staff, and assists in diversion of persons from state facility placements through agency programs.

· Maintains documentation of services including progress notes, medication informed consent, quarterly treatment plan reviews, and other required information in compliance with agency and third-party compliance standards.

· Receives medical supervision from NWCS psychiatrist consultants consistent with applicable licensure requirements of Licensed Nurse Practitioners for Prescriptive Authority Services.

Minimum Qualifications:

· Licensure in Virginia as a Nurse Practitioner, specializing in Psychiatric and Mental Health

· Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) registration for the prescribing of controlled substances.

· A mix of education and experience that shows the necessary skills and knowledge for the position.

· An appreciation for and support of diversity in all its forms, and a demonstrated ability to interact with or serve individuals with diverse backgrounds, including clients, coworkers, and members of the community.

· An eagerness to invest in one’s community through service.

· Must possess a valid Driver’s License, good driving record and the ability to provide own transportation.

Required Qualifications:

· Autonomous ANCC PMHNP certification

· Two (2) years of experience working with persons who have serious mental illness, intellectual disabilities, and/or substance abuse disorders

Physical Requirements

· May be exposed to allergenic environments from client’s including, dust, smoke, pet contamination.

· May be exposed to clients with infectious diseases.

· Must be able to drive for long periods of time to visit other clinic sites in catchment area as needed.

· Must be able to walk distances, climb and descend stairs, maneuver in and out of agency vehicles.

· Must be able to complete physical requirements of the job

· Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer

· Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times
