About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Workday Managing Consultant to support a high-impact implementation project for a Human Resources system at a public sector client site in Hauppauge, NY. This is an onsite role requiring hands-on technical and functional Workday experience. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in Workday configuration, integration, reporting, and deployment across key HCM functions.
Position: Managing Consultant – Workday Technical Implementation (Level II)
Work Location: Hauppauge, NY (Suffolk County Offices) (Onsite)
Client: Suffolk County Government
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and support the Workday implementation across HCM modules including Compensation, Benefits, Payroll, Time Tracking, and Attendance.
- Design and configure business processes, calculated fields, and compensation structures (grade profiles, salary plans, eligibility rules, bonus/allowance programs).
- Perform data conversion and validation activities from legacy systems.
- Develop and optimize Workday reports, including standard, matrix, advanced, and trending reports.
- Create and manage custom business objects and security groups (domain and functional area policies).
- Manage inbound/outbound EIBs, integrations, and interface designs between Workday and other systems.
- Provide technical oversight of Workday tenants (sandbox, implementation, production).
- Coordinate event and release management, assessing the impact of new features.
- Partner with HR, payroll, and IT stakeholders to gather requirements, conduct UAT, and ensure successful go-live.
- Provide guidance on Workday self-service capabilities, role-based access, and configuration best practices.
Qualifications:
- 5 years of experience in Workday technical implementation or support.
- Demonstrated expertise in Workday HCM, especially in compensation, time tracking, and payroll.
- Strong hands-on experience with Workday EIBs, calculated fields, reporting tools, and custom integrations.
- Familiarity with Workday security, including domain/functional area security policies and user provisioning.
- Experience in data conversion, including extraction, transformation, and loading from legacy systems.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively with HR, IT, and business stakeholders.
- Prior experience in Workday release management and environment control.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Workday certifications (preferred but not required).
Work Environment:
- This is a 100% on-site role based at the Suffolk County Government offices in Hauppauge, NY.
- Candidates must be able to commute or relocate locally.
- Standard business hours; occasional evening/weekend support may be needed during go-live phases.
