Position Summary
The Sanitor is responsible for routine cleaning and sanitation of production areas, tools, and equipment. This role also ensures cleanliness in the warehouse, support areas, and outdoor premises.
An ideal candidate is punctual, skilled, and enjoys working in a team-oriented environment.
General Duties & Responsibilities
Maintain facility cleanliness in compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOPs).
Clean and sanitize processing equipment per established standards.
Remove trash and maintain floors, walls, ceilings per the Master Sanitation Schedule (MSS).
Operate cleaning equipment, including floor scrubbers, foamers, vacuums, and CIP systems.
Hand-clean production equipment, including disassembling and reassembling parts.
Complete sanitation checklists and coordinate with inspectors for pre-operational approval.
Work safely, following health, safety, and emergency protocols.
Properly handle cleaning chemicals per safety guidelines.
Perform self-inspections and additional tasks as assigned by supervisors.
Food Safety & Quality Responsibilities
Follow GMP policies and ensure compliance with pest control, visitor policies, allergen management, and sanitation protocols.
Demonstrate awareness of Safe Quality Food (SQF) commitments and contribute to food safety and quality efforts.
Report food safety or quality concerns to the Quality Assurance Manager for corrective action.
Required Skills & Abilities
English proficiency (verbal & written) for safety and training purposes.
Basic computer and math skills.
Problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
Ability to read and understand Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
Strong attention to detail to meet sanitation standards.
Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
Team player with a positive attitude and excellent attendance.
Education & Experience
High school diploma or GED.
1 year of basic sanitation experience.
Knowledge of HACCP, SSOPs, GMPs, and food safety preferred.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
30-minute unpaid lunch; two 15-minute paid breaks.
Ability to lift up to 65 lbs.
Exposure to chemical cleaning solutions with required safety protocols.
Perform repetitive movements : standing, walking, bending, reaching, climbing stairs / ladders.
Work at heights using scissor lifts or ladders.
Work in cold environments when cleaning coolers / freezers.
Reliable transportation and ability to work overtime if needed.
