Overview
FedWriters is building a team to provide comprehensive video and broadcast production support for the Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division. As a Senior Communication Specialist, you will research, conduct interviews, write, edit, and obtain release/approval for various communication materials while supporting employee communication programs and media relations initiatives.

Work Schedule and Location:
On-Site: This full-time on-site position will work Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm at the Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division.
Responsibilities
- Conduct research for communication materials
- Perform interviews for content development
- Write and edit articles, feature stories, news releases, and statements
- Obtain release/approval for communication materials (electronic, web-based, and hard copy)
- Support employee communication programs and products
- Assist with media relations programs
- Support community relations initiatives
- Provide assistance for special events
- Deliver photography support
- Operate Newport Enterprise Realtime Development Server (NERDS) digital signage
- Utilize creative software tools for communication products
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Communications field, public relations, or marketing and four (4) years of related experience OR
- 10 years related experience in the field for public relations, public affairs or journalism
- Experience in research, conducting interviews, writing, editing, and obtaining release/approval for articles, feature stories, news releases, and statements, including electronic, web based, and hard copy material
- Proven ability to support employee communication programs and products, media relations programs, community relations, special events, and provide photography support
- Proficiency with Newport Enterprise Realtime Development Server (NERDS) digital signage, Adobe Creative Cloud Production Premium, Microsoft Office Professional, AVS Video Converter, and screen capture software
- Requires an active Secret level security clearance.
