POSITION SUMMARY
FSF’s fleet is continuously on the move. The Transportation Supervisor (TS) is responsible for ensuring all deliveries and pickups are made safely and efficiently. Ensures DOT, FA, AIB, and FSF compliance through vehicle maintenance and driver communication, training, coaching, and accountability. The TS works closely with multiple departments to maintain internal and external customer service at the highest level. In cooperation with the Transportation Manager, the TS will oversee drivers dispatching, monitoring on-time deliveries, and over-the-road support of a team of 20-25 drivers. This position is a member of the operations team, working closely with members of the Food Industry, Warehouse, and Distribution teams to ensure safe and efficient service to all internal and external stakeholders.
SALARY: $45,000-$50,000
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
Dispatch (and create if needed) local transportation routes in the South Florida service area consisting of Palm Beach, Broward, Miami-Dade, Monroe, and other surrounding counties as necessary.
Coordinate transportation functions relating to inbound and outbound freight movement between FSF warehouses, food donors, agencies, and retail partners.
Maintain maximum service levels while keeping costs at a minimum to ensure efficient resource utilization and achievement of service goals.
Ensure organization and driver compliance with all government regulations relating to transportation policies, food safety, labor laws, etc.
Coordinate with all departments to dispatch drivers for donor pickups and agency
deliveries as required.Supervise drivers through route design and implementation, fleet maintenance, as well as tracking driver compliance and operational metrics.
Ensure all drivers are trained in customer service and positively represent the organization’s mission and values.
Coordinate maintenance of the fleet and equipment to ensure that vehicles are clean and operating properly, including preventative maintenance, timely inspections, and licensing of all vehicles.
Assist with carrier services by securing appropriate bids, preparing and filing claims for damages,
lost shipments, and overcharges. Evaluate carrier performance and recommend changes in mode and/or carrier.Maintain effective communication with drivers, the warehouse, and the distribution team, ensuring constant communication in the event of route changes and/or challenges.
Maintain current food safety handler certificate and ensure drivers are certified as well.
Motivate direct reports to comply with all items listed above.
Evaluate direct reports in accordance with company procedure.
Assist management as necessary.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum 3 years of Transportation supervisory level experience
High school diploma (associate degree preferred)
Strong computer proficiency including transportation routing and dispatching systems required (full-suite Transportation Management System experience preferred. Ex. Omnitracs).
High-level of proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
Effective verbal and written communication skills required.
Ability to work with diverse staff and external constituencies required.
Strong attention to detail required.
Strong analytical, data-interpretation, planning, and problem-solving skills required.
Demonstrated industry experience with transportation related tasks preferred.
Able to develop, implement, and execute new initiatives.

Must maintain a valid Florida Driver’s License and a reliable, insured personal vehicle.
PHYSICAL DEMAND AND WORKING CONDITIONS
Hours of Operation: Organization hours are Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. This position may work additional hours occasionally throughout the year, especially during peak times such as holiday seasons, and disaster response.
Environment: This position works in an office setting with varying periods of standing, talking, and/or visual concentration, and use of office equipment. Must maintain office safety standards. Occasional work will occur in the warehouse or outside in fields and warehouses in inclement weather. The noise in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
Travel: This position may have occasional travel for meetings, conferences, or special events which may require the use of a personal vehicle.
OSHA Standards Lifting requirements are 50 pounds and when lifting loads heavier than 50 pounds, use two or more people to lift the load.
