POSITION SUMMARY
The Assistant Director of Development, Grants, leads the strategy and execution of Feeding Tampa Bay’s grant development efforts, including managing the team responsible for researching, writing, and submitting grant proposals. This role oversees the Lead Grants Coordinator and two Grant Coordinators, ensuring the successful identification, acquisition, and stewardship of grants from foundations, corporations, and government sources. The Assistant Director develops and implements strategies to maximize funding opportunities, strengthen donor relationships, and align grant initiatives with Feeding Tampa Bay’s mission. Collaborating with the development leadership team, this position plays a key role in advancing Feeding Tampa Bay’s overall fundraising goals, driving sustained financial support to address hunger and promote community well-being.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead the grants team by providing direction, oversight, and mentoring to the Lead Grants Coordinator and two Grant Coordinators.
- Develop and implement grant acquisition strategies to increase funding from foundations, corporations, and government sources.
- Research potential funding opportunities, identifying new and innovative sources of grants to align with Feeding Tampa Bay’s mission and goals.
- Write compelling grant proposals, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and alignment with funder priorities and organizational objectives.
- Collaborate with internal teams to gather necessary data, programmatic details, and outcomes to support grant proposals.
- Monitor and evaluate the performance of active grants, ensuring compliance with funder requirements and organizational standards.
- Maintain and cultivate relationships with key funders, fostering long-term partnerships and ensuring timely communication on program progress and impact.
- Oversee the preparation and submission of progress reports, financial updates, and other required documentation for active grants.
- Track and analyze grant data to assess fundraising trends, report on performance, and inform future grant strategies.
- Align the grant program with Feeding Tampa Bay’s broader development strategy, ensuring integration of grants into overall fundraising goals.
- Support the development leadership team with strategic insights and recommendations to strengthen grant-related efforts and maximize funding potential.
- Work directly with the Senior Director of Development on grant decisions to ensure alignment with existing funding priorities and collaborate on strategizing budget-expanding opportunities when available.
- Manage relationships with accounts that are solely grant funders, ensuring effective communication and stewardship, and collaborate with Development Leadership to explore opportunities to grow these relationships for increased support and engagement.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree and 3 years of experience in grant writing, fundraising, donor relations, or a related field, ideally within a nonprofit environment.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks effectively, and maintain exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proficiency with CRM systems (Salesforce preferred), as well as skills in Microsoft Office and Google Suite.
- Proven ability to analyze data and extract actionable insights to inform strategies and decision-making.
- Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong relationships with a variety of stakeholders.
- Self-motivated with a proactive approach to problem-solving, and a focus on continuous process improvement and innovation.
- A collaborative team player who can also work independently, exercising good judgment and discretion in handling confidential information.
- This position requires being in the office for 3 or more full workdays per week, based on team needs and at the direction of leadership.
- Flexibility to adjust work hours as needed, including evenings or weekends, to meet project deadlines and organizational needs.
- Current FTB employees must be in good standing and not on any corrective actions.
