Job Title: Distribution Center Associate
Department: Operations
Reports To: Operations Manager
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
About the Organization: As a member of Feeding America, and a United Way Member Agency, Feeding the Gulf Coast works through member organizations and special programs to provide nutritious food to meet the challenge of feeding people who are hungry as a result of systemic poverty, personal crisis, or disaster. Additionally, Feeding the Gulf Coast educates the public regarding domestic hunger, proper nutrition and other related issues. Feeding the Gulf Coast serves a 24-county area spanning south Alabama, south Mississippi, and the panhandle of Florida.
Summary: Receives, counts, locates and inspects food and non-food items. Responsible for general warehouse duties, such as filling orders, loading and unloading of trucks, moving and locating product, assisting with volunteers, and maintaining cleanliness of the distribution center by following company sanitation and cleanliness guidelines. Upholds high food safety and workplace safety standards in compliance with Feeding the Gulf Coast’s policies and procedures.
Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
- Represents Feeding the Gulf Coast by conduct and appearance while engaging with warehouse customers and volunteers in a professional manner.
- Receives and stores inbound products including completing documentation accurately and efficiently.
- Maintains inventory control in compliance with Feeding the Gulf Coast’s standard operating procedures.
- Maintain established food safety guidelines in accordance with Feeding the Gulf Coast’s food safety policies and procedures.
- Pulls, assembles, packages, and stages orders accurately and efficiently.
- Loads and secures inventory on Feeding the Gulf Coast commercial trucks and customer vehicles safely and efficiently.
- Work to maintain workplace safety in all aspects of the job, particularly in the operation of all warehouse equipment.
- Ability to utilize computer programs and RF Scanners.
- Conducts warehouse daily checks and maintenance processes as assigned.
- Performs facility maintenance as needed.
- Assists with agency product selection operations.
- Works cooperatively with others including all staff, supervisors, administrators, co-workers, and agencies.

Language Ability:Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Math Ability:Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning Ability:Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
Computer Skills:To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and Google Gmail. Be able to learn Primarius inventory software system, as well as barcoding system.

Education/Experience:High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or four to six years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Certificates and Licenses:Valid driver's license with driving record that meets company insurance requirements.
