Summary: The Mobile Market Driver is responsible for the safe and timely transportation of produce and other food items to various mobile market access points. This role involves driving a designated Feeding the Gulf Coast fleet vehicle, maintaining accurate delivery and inventory records, and ensuring a positive customer experience. The Mobile Market Driver may also be responsible for loading and unloading food items, maintaining the cleanliness of the vehicle, and performing basic vehicle maintenance tasks.
About the Organization: As a member of Feeding America, and a United Way Member Agency, Feeding the Gulf Coast works through member organizations and special programs to provide nutritious food to meet the challenge of feeding people who are hungry as a result of systemic poverty, personal crisis, or disaster. Additionally, Feeding the Gulf Coast educates the public regarding domestic hunger, proper nutrition and other related issues. Feeding the Gulf Coast serves a 24-county area spanning south Alabama, south Mississippi, and the Florida Panhandle.
Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
Vehicle Operation:
- Inspect, operate, and maintain the mobile market in a professional and safe manner as per State drivers code, highway safety rules, USDOT codes.
- Complete pre and post-trip vehicle checklists.
- Conduct daily maintenance items for the vehicle as necessary reporting any maintenance or repair needs promptly.
- Operate route data management system onboard Feeding the Gulf Coast vehicles.
- Safely operate a designated vehicle, such as a delivery van or truck, to transport goods and services to different mobile market locations.
- Maintain accurate delivery records, including invoices, receipts, and logs of mileage, fuel consumption, and maintenance activities.
Food Safety and Inventory Management:
- Assist with the fulfillment of product invoices, loading and unloading at warehouses, and stocking the mobile market. Maintain required recordkeeping documentation in compliance with Feeding the Gulf Coast standard operating procedures. Maintain food safety standards, including maintaining appropriate temperature control of perishable items, and eliminating additional food safety risks.
- Load and unload merchandise and supplies, ensuring proper handling and securing of items to prevent damage during transit.
- Comply with health and safety guidelines, including proper handling of perishable or fragile items, and ensure adherence to food safety regulations, if applicable.
Program Evaluation and Planning:
- Collaborate with mobile market staff to coordinate route and stop schedules and optimize overall operational efficiency.
- Plan and execute efficient routes to ensure timely delivery and maximize productivity.
- Stay updated on product knowledge and mobile market promotions to effectively communicate information to customers.
Organization Representation:
- Work to maintain workplace safety in all aspects of the job, particularly in the operation of all warehouse equipment.
- Provide exceptional customer service by delivering products in a courteous and professional manner, addressing customer inquiries or concerns, and maintaining a positive image of the mobile market and Feeding the Gulf Coast.
- Operates point of sale terminals following established protocols for handling cash or credit card transactions, as required.
- Works cooperatively with others including all staff, supervisors, administrators, co-workers, and agencies.

Qualifications:

Language Ability:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and Google Gmail.
Education/Experience:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or four to six years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Certificates and Licenses:
- Valid and current driver’s license. Must be able to pass a Background Check, Motor Vehicle Records Check, Drug Test and DOT Physical. ServSafe Food Handler certification is a plus.
