As a Senior Communications & Content Specialist, you will be an essential part of our small but mighty Corporate Communications team. Representing Corporate Services, you will serve as a trusted advisor to transportation engineers, planners, and business services professionals across the company.
In this role, you will use your expertise in content creation, marketing communications strategy, digital platforms, and industry best practices to develop and share information that informs, engages, and supports both internal and external audiences. You’ll collaborate with staff to package information effectively, enhance access to key content, and strengthen communication strategies that promote our brand and services.
\n- Internal Communications
- Intranet Management: Serve as an intranet resource by answering questions, providing training, and supporting staff in drafting posts and making page updates.
- Change Communications: Collaborate with corporate teams to develop clear and engaging content that enhances the user experience during organizational changes or new initiatives.
- Continuous Improvement: Gather staff feedback to refine strategies and identify opportunities for intranet and communications improvement.
- Editorial Calendar: Maintain a schedule of internal communications, including webinars and key updates for staff.
- Content Development & External Communications
- Content Strategy & Writing: Partner with technical experts to understand complex topics, and research and create strategic and compelling blog content.
- Conferences & Industry Events: Track designated industry events and collaborate to develop supporting content that aligns with firm goals.
- Social Media Management: Manage the company's LinkedIn presence, including content creation, posting, engagement and performance tracking.
- Multimedia Content: Work with staff to develop visual and written content that enhances storytelling across digital channels.
- General
- Analytics & Performance Tracking: Monitor content effectiveness using Google Analytics, social media and other analytics, providing recommendations for continuous improvement.
- Branding & Messaging Alignment: Act as a brand champion, helping to align communications with our voice and tone, and visual identity.
- Industry Awareness: Stay informed about trends and technologies that impact digital communications and content strategy.
- Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, public relations, digital technologies, or a related field.
- 4 years of experience in content creation, communications, or marketing.
- Strong writing and storytelling skills, with the ability to craft engaging content in a consistent voice and tone.
- Curiosity, an eye for nuance, and ability to adapt messaging for different audiences and channels.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills to handle multiple projects.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with staff at all levels of experience.
- A collaborative, proactive approach to projects and problem-solving, with the ability to work independently.
- Experience managing company social media accounts, particularly LinkedIn.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat.
- Experience with Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, Box, and WordPress.
- Experience with Adobe Creative Suite and basic design tools like Adobe Express or Canva.
- Background in content marketing, internal communications, or digital media.
- Experience in the transportation, architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) industry.
Members of the Communications team are spread across three markets. Ideally, this person will be located near Roseville, California. In this position, you will be able to work most of the time remotely but are expected to be available to travel into the Roseville office at least twice a week and to the corporate office in Walnut Creek on an as-needed basis (typically quarterly). All days will be agreed upon in advance.
