SUMMARY:
Responsible for material planning and supervising the material planners and production schedulers to ensure on-time delivery while maintaining targeted days on hand for raw components. Works with plant production personnel and customers on daily basis to have ideal flow of materials available for production.
Qualifications
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Serves as a primary point of contact for and liaison with sales, logistics, and manufacturing departments
- Reviews sales in order to forecast product levels. Provides necessary metrics for tracking actual sales to forecast
- Leads a team that set schedules and communicate it to appropriate personnel
- Leads a team with the production schedulers so we don’t run out of components during builds
- Reviews finished goods inventory levels and maintain a workable level to ensure that all shipments can be made to customer
- Reviews component inventory level and maintain workable level to ensure production can be completed without interruption
- Works with shipping department to verify accuracy of shipments
- Communicates with customers to ensure satisfaction of shipments
- Ensures availability of raw materials to fulfill planned work orders through just in time delivery of raw materials
- Responsible for production schedules, make decisions concerning inventory and staffing, while communicating with Production department, Supply Chain Manager and Plant Manager
- Prepares and issues purchase orders and change orders
- Oversees all activities related to procurement of a commodity, from intent to purchase through delivery of commodity
- Supervises, plans and places purchase orders for production components ensuring that parts are received in the quantity required, when needed. Proactively and reactively manages and expedites component part shortages by identifying issues and internal problems
- Ensures planners are submitting EDIs to suppliers in a timely basis
- Prepares material reports
- Additional duties as needed and assigned
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Leads a small team of Planners and Production schedulers.
QUALIFICATIONS:

- ISO experience
- Strong SAP or similar program experience
- Good understanding of Excel and other Microsoft Office applications Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
- Excellent organizational skills, ability to multi-task, and enhanced attention to detail
- Self-starter
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
The individual must have working knowledge of materials planning in a manufacturing environment. The individual will be responsible for leading planning, overseeing the continuous improvement of the manufacturing process, and executing long-term strategic plans. Must be self-motivated and possess well-developed leadership skills.
Minimum Requirement:
- High school diploma and 6 years of planning experience
Preferred:
- College degree (with 4 or more years planning experience)
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret basic instructions and required documents. Has the ability to respond and communicate complicated instruction and basic directions.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to comprehend and apply principles of basic mathematics.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Normal amount of sitting and standing, above average mobility to move around an office and plant environment, able to conduct normal amount of work on a computer.
- Reports to Materials Manager
- Will work primarily with Tier 1 and OEM Customers.
- Will work closely with Buyers, Warehouse Supervision and personnel, Production Manager and Supervisors.
- Will communicate with Materials Manager and General Manager on a regular basis
- Has regular communication through email, phone, and fax with various suppliers and customers
