What are the responsibilities and job description for the Welding Cell Robot Set Up Operator 1st Shift position at Fehrer Automotive?
SUMMARY:
Responsible for ensuring all welding robots are set-up, programmed and producing parts according to specifications.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Performs robot set-up and welding table adjustments
- Complete required preventative maintenance of welding robots, tables, and related equipment.
- Diagnose and correct parameters for all weld adjustments.
- Provide support in the analysis and resolution of weld equipment failures.
- Change welding consumables as needed.
- Troubleshoot part fitment problems.
- Responsible for set-up and maintaining quality parameters; including workmanship, system functionality, providing corrective action feedback to responsible parties.
- Perform supporting activities for engineering and manufacturing, including 5S and lean manufacturing activities, material handling, production line configuration, and safety procedures.
- Perform work of an Assembler when assigned (back-up absence/vacation, no set-ups scheduled, or no maintenance is required).
- Maintain a clean work area according to 5S
- Conduct audits and assessments to identify potential areas of risk and develop mitigation strategies. Understand and maintain audit compliance as it relates to the tooling function. This would include: IATF, ISO, and TISAX.
- Follow all safety protocols and guidelines established by the company. Encourage safe practices and a safety-first mindset among coworkers.
- Additional duties as needed and assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:

- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
- Formal Mechanical Maintenance or Machinist experience/schooling
- Machine shop experience
- Welding experience ( Mig, Tig, Acetylene )
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Employee must have working knowledge of manufacturing maintenance. The individual will be responsible for leading maintenance systems, overseeing the continuous improvement of the manufacturing process and executing long term strategic plans. Must be self-motivated and possess well developed leadership skills.
Minimum Requirement:
- High school diploma
- 1 to 3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment and 1 to 3 years of experience in tooling.
Preferred:
- 2-year A.S. degree in Industrial Maintenance or formal Machinist training
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret basic instructions and required documents. Has the ability to respond and communicate complicated instruction and basic directions.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to comprehend and apply principles of basic mathematics.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
