What are the responsibilities and job description for the Activities Coordinator position at Fellowship Square- Phoenix?
We are looking for a positive and compassionate Activities Coordinator to schedule and coordinate events for our assisted living community. The Activities Coordinator will design, organize, and lead a variety of recreational and therapeutic activities that promote social, emotional, cognitive, and physical well-being for our senior residents. This role requires a deep understanding of the unique needs of individuals with dementia and other memory impairments.
The ideal candidate will have experience in memory care, possess excellent interpersonal skills, and be able to provide a high level of care while making every day enjoyable for our residents.
Responsibilities:
- Participate in the execution, physical set-up, and staffing of in-house events and classes.
- Staff off-site resident excursions in the community.
- Assist with resident reservations and activity sign-up records.
- Answer the phones.
- Follow up with residents by phone or personally to confirm activity sign-up and reservations.
- Disseminate activity schedules to residents, including monthly event postings and newsletters.
- Create and maintain an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest, and positive emphasis, as well as a calm attitude when visiting with staff and residents.
- Maintain confidentiality of all pertinent resident information to assure resident rights are protected.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 1–3 years of experience in activity coordination, recreation therapy, or a related field within senior living or healthcare settings required.
- Mmimum 1-3 years of experience working with seniors in a dementia care environment required.
- Dementia certification preferred.
- Strong knowledge of senior care and the unique needs of elderly residents, including those with dementia, Alzheimer’s, or mobility challenges.
- Creative and innovative in designing and leading a variety of engaging activities that promote physical, emotional, and cognitive well-being.
- Capable of planning, scheduling, and executing multiple activities and events simultaneously.
- Ability to document and track participation, maintaining records of activities, resident feedback, and program effectiveness.
- Office and administrative skills a must.
- Computer skills in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Publisher.
- Must be detail oriented.
- Able to make independent decisions when in various circumstances.
- Must possess good communication and people skills.
- Able to take and follow written and oral instructions.
- Team player, dedicated worker, and enjoys having fun!
